Best looking Drop Base Air Cleaner???
#2
Uh oh, what prompted this? Still that same problem you were having all this time?
GM has a nice 14x3 drop-base air cleaner. Of course I'm at work so I can't get you the part number or anything .. but take a look at the GMPP catalog. I like their air cleaners better than a lot of aftermarket ones.
I'd like to get a bowtie TB plate instead of the Holley one I have now.

It would match your car..
I have a Mr. Gasket (a la Holley) 14x3 on my RS, but it's a non-drop base. It was like 20 bucks and another 50 for the K&N. Any particular reason it has to be a drop base?
That Team-G isn't really that tall, is it?

Well, I have the stock 92 Z28 hood with the blisters. I was under the impression that It had to be a drop base to clear the hood.
Maybe I will just wait untill I do the change over as see. I would like to use a regular one though.
As far as the Team-g intake. I think the height is about the same as the stealth intake. I will see if I can get the dimensions.
Have you got any pics of your setup?

i wasnt sure if mine would fit so i took a 2x4 that i cut to 14"and drilled a hole in the center...then i put a nut on the carb stud down about a 1.5 in...put the block of wood on....adjusted the nutso the wood was flush with the top of the stud......closed the hood....it hit.....so i took that stud......cut the amount off that the air cleaner i was gonna get was dropped....tryed it....it worked...who hoooooo

What intake are you running?

I would guess it would clear the hood. The main concern is probably going to be clearing your throttle linkage.
Hmm wow.. I actually don't have any pics of just the engine.. at least with the aircleaner on..
I may have to snap a few sometime soon.

Yeah, I want to run a 14x3 filter. Which will leave little space.
I think the linkage will work as long as it is not too much of a drop base.
I just checked out my local auto zone and they had all the spector line. This puppy is getting tricked out when I do the change over.
I also did a search for the Mr. Gasket products. They are going to offer there products straight from the factory. They are working on there site. Might be able to get some good deals by cutting out the middle man.
Just do a search for Mr. Gasket, or Mr. Gasket performance group.
They have erson cams, accel ignition parts, lakewood, hayes and other brands. Might be some good deals.

Just get some VHT high heat paint and paint them.
So you are running a 1" spacer and the edelbrock intake with a drop base air cleaner? This is with a stock hood right?

Here it is on my car. Im using just a normal paper 14X3 filter. I could definitely feel a difference between this and the stock air cleaner. It just barely clears the distributor cap. I also have a chrome oil pain that I picked up from a swap meet for 10 bucks, a chrome timing cover that came from the same swap meet for 5 bucks, and chrome valve covers that were on the engine when I got it. Not that you can see any of them under the mess of hoses and wires, though :P I actually like the look of a drop base air cleaner over a normal one. Even if I had the hood clearance for a normal, I'd still use a drop base. I like the way it kinda hides the carb.
