well $6000 or so on engine
$5000 on d1sc
$4000 on complete spohn suspension coil overs and brakes.
$3000 on 700r to tko coversion
$1500 on 4th gen seats new carpet dash cover head liner gauges steering wheel and also full dynomat.
still need paint and other odds and ends.I justify it to my wife by saying its my first car and we went to prom in it and rode away from getting married in it."I can't let it just rott or go unmaintained"haha

Re: How much have you spent on your car?
I have a 1990 RS 5.0L V8 5-speed T-Top car. As far as I can tell, I'm the third owner.
The car cost $6500.00 in 1999 when I bought it.
Right now I'm at approx. $18,500.00 including the cost of the car.
Since then:
Dash pad, radio & six speakers, new reman. T-5 transmission, Hurst Billet Plus short-throw shifter, Flowmaster cat-back 3" exhaust, new catalytic converter, Eibach springs, new shocks & struts (twice), replaced rear end (3.23 gears instead of 3.08), radiator & associated hoses, fan motor, blower motor, practically every electronic sensor under the hood, new nose cone & air dam, new cowl induction hood, new t-top bar (stainless steel/powder-coated black), full weatherstrip package, all-new lights on the front of the car (park/marker/healights, etc.), new grill, replaced passenger side front fender, new "RS" badges, complete re-work at the paint & body shop, including media blasting to bare metal (finishing up this week), swapped tail lights to Z28 style, all exterior bulbs upgraded to LED, new ZR1 polished wheels w/adapters and BFG Sport Comp II tires, new fuel pump, swapped to larger Z28 anti-roll bars front & rear, JET Performance chip, etc., etc., and so on..... I'm probably missing a few things.
Have not touched the motor yet; it's still all-original, never been apart. Have not touched the interior yet either, except for the dash pad. Getting into the suspension and brakes in the spring/summer of 2014, so that'll add another $3000.00 then. Interior in 2015, and engine in 2016. I imagine I'll be close to $30K when it's all done by the end of 2016 (hopefully a little sooner).
Pics here, post #490
Still cheaper than buying a new one (which I almost did - but couldn't part with this one!), and a heckuva lot more fun.

Re: How much have you spent on your car?
Mine was £1500 originally, but got it for £1250 thanks to dad's haggling.
Agreed with the above about potentially damaging the car. Someone I know has an 11 plate Fiat 500, but about a month after passing they span off at a roundabout and landed in a ditch. They were fine, but the car has an unsightly dent in the passenger door.

Far too much. Camaro? Probably 5k at most. My Mercedes? I'm pushing 10k and the motor and trans are still blown.

Re: How much have you spent on your car?
So far I am sitting on $9000.00 in parts with about $5000.00 more to buy.
Then I start the Rotisserie restoration on it..... paint and body will run about $15000.00
so all and all I'm going to be pretty much broke for the next 2 years.... hope the girlfriend understands !!

My dad bought it 8 months old for 13 and change. At least 5 grand until she went into hibernation for 12 years. Since I have been driving it at least 25+ (including body). Ouch ouch ouch

Re: How much have you spent on your car?
I paid 9K ...... probably have another 4K if you counted everything.... But it's a blast !! ..... This addiction started before I had a license to drive and I've repeated it with many cool cars all my life... You learn alot messing with cars... It's money well spent IMO... Nothing like cleaning up your ride and going cruisin...
I have a list in my head of more stuff to do

Re: How much have you spent on your car?
speaking of addictions....., I've been addicted to this car as long as I can remember. My dad actually tried to sell it when I was like 6 years old, my family keeps telling me that I scared the guy off. lmao And yea, I have learned a helluva lot with this car.

It runs pretty darn good ... definitely the fastest 305 I've ever seen .... it handles like a champ of course but is a little rough on these crappy roads around here ... I'm thinking about going with some softer springs or some adjustable shocks to soften the ride quality a lil bit
Edit: its a little dirty in these pics ... my DD took a crap on me so now my toy is my DD :-/
