guess what i saw...?

believe it or not, i saw a third gen camaro police car. now at first that doesnt seem all that impressive since there were a few hundred of them build. but this one was IN SERVICE. a local small suburb of my city uses it. i havent figured out what its main purpose is yet but i was amazed. i also dont know if it is a true B4C or just a converted camaro. if anyone wants to see it, ill see if i can get a pick of it.

You must live in a city where the police department has a limited transportation fund because most departments don't like to use old equipment unless they have to.

the thing is, it may be old but it may not be very used. they just started using it this week so it may have a couple thousand miles on it for all i know. it also may just be a DARE car too. i have only seen it once and it was going the other way. i see what i can figure out.

the car i saw was diffenentally in service. and that moth ball statement... thats just sick.

i still havent seen it since i saw it yesterday morning, but the town is really small and my gf lives just down the street from the town square/police department/court house (i did say it was a small town didnt i?).

You must live in a city where the police department has a limited transportation fund because most departments don't like to use old equipment unless they have to.
i dont really thing they are strapped for money. it is small but a good percentage of the residents are well set financially. it is the same place where Pantera lives.

Those LED lightbars look cool, but that sucks that they are harder to spot.

most cops beat the heck out of their cars!! they have too

i saw a movie where one was doing a burnout for about a minute..

cops usually have to catch up with people when they caught them speeding.. like their sitting there doing radar and someone flies by them doing like 100 mph, they have to full throttle the car alot i would think to try and caught up..

that is why alot of cops go to jap bikes instead of harleys
liquid cooled vs air cooled engines.

Around here on I57, I see a red 4th gen (98+) all the time. It's an unmarked State Trooper so you have NO CLUE that it's a cop!!!!!!

One day I was cruisin' along and saw that red one pulled up next to another one (blue) and they were BS'n in one of those places to make a "U" turn. I'm think "Great...... that's all they need is another one."

About a week after that...... I saw a white one. Now I'm thinkin' "That's where all my frickin' tax money goes?"

Yeah, that's 4th gen, not thirdgen. I see 4thgen police cars occasionally, but not a thirdgen.

i think the point is that i started this thread talking about seeing a THIRDGEN cop car. it has turned into a 4th gen conversation since then. i think probably a good percentage of the people who are members of this site have seen an in service 4th gen running around somewhere. but how many have seen a 3rd gen in recent years. im thinkin not very many.

You must live in a city where the police department has a limited transportation fund because most departments don't like to use old equipment unless they have to.
The Police around here has two 3rd gen camaro cop cars, that are B4C's...and they have plenty of funding to buy new vehicles...they were having the tires changed on their cars at the same time I was....one of them said "hey, nice looking car you have there" to me"
