That's a sweet pic. What do you know about that "Pumpkin" 97 SS? Is that a factory inverse of the 30th aniversary cars, kinda like they did with the 30th trans am or was it done by the owner? Also I have a picture of the engine and it looks like it says Grand Sport on the throttle body. Is that an LT4 in there?

 

not my best background pic, but when I find my film with my pics from on daytona beach and in front of the lake then I'll post some pics with a sweet background. This is pretty much just some nice trees. if you wanna call them that.:lala:

BTW MARK SHIELDS, I recognize the one picture of your iroc, it was taken in Cumberland, MD right? Where are you from man? I'm pretty close to there.

 

The "Pumpkin" started off as a body in white; ie no VIN number. it was originally being built as a road racer by SLP. If you look carefully at engine compartment shots, you can see where all the sheetmetal panels that are normally just spot welded are welded solid on this car. Matt Murphy, who used to be the SLP Zone rep for GA, bought the car from SLP but I'm not sure if it was before, during, or after the transformation into a 1997 Camaro SS. It did get the LT4, though I'm not sure what engine mods were done to it if any. Its the only legitimate LT4 SS that isn't white with orange (which is why I bought a standard 97 SS and modified it...the white with orange is cool, but not for me).

Matt Murphy now runs GMMG here in Georgia, the outfit that builds the Berger SS, Carl Black Blackbirds, and used to build the Earnhardt Intimidator SS (til his death). They also sell the chambered exhaust for 4th gens. Matt is a great guy, and owns what is to me the most siginificant 4th Gen SS ever built. He takes it to lots of Camaro events, so if you see it go talk to him about it.

 

Forgot to mention it, but the above pic was taken at the GM High Tech Performance EFI Nats in Bristol, TN a couple years ago. GMHTP ran a similar picture in their article on the event, and you can see my car in it, too. Thanks Johnny Hunkins !!!

It was taken at a Marriot hotel in Downtown Atl. This is at the entrance to the hotel where you check in. We went there about 1am to be able to get to park away from other cars, but still it was like Grand Central station. Some of the attendants held the traffic up for me to shoot some quick shots. As it was they did not want any parking. I want to try to shoot some pics with the shutter speed a touch slower, so I can see it if the car will show up better. Try some with no flash and 800 speed film, and night mode with flash. Got to turn on the neons too! That will really give it an errie glow. I may call ahead though to see when the quiet time is. Heck we may have to go at 4-5am or something on a weekday.

 

Got a few old shots on a CD photo disk the other day: found some came out nice... from Sept. 2001
