I got my iroc when i was 16 and now i am 20. I went half and half on the car with my parents. All of the other "mods" i have done myself, and there are a mess load! When i was 18 i got a 86 civic hb as a daily driver and i still have it. Insurance isn't that bad because i am still under mommy and daddy's plan, only $1,796 a year for both cars. The civic is only $300 a year! I just started school again, 15 credits, work as a cable contractor, and part time at Home Depot, where i have been for over two years! I do not need to work so much but i "need" to make my car nice! j/k, you can say i have the itch!

well i bought my car 4 months ago, i am 15. i will be 16 in june. since i was about 5 i loved cars...and i wanted a "sports car" when i was old enough to drive. so i started saving.....papers-mowing lawns-buy ing and selling ATV's making profit...and since i was 13 i was aloud to work at construction...making 5.50. did that for 3 summers and kept looking. and i found one! she was everything i wanted except for the 305, but that didn't stop me...i had to borrow a few bucks from parents but they are almost paid off now....then i am getting a 383

I'm 18, guess my car is pretty decent. I've paid for most of it, but i have had some help from my father. But we consider this more of a father son project than a "daddy bought me everything" typr deal. We're both out there working on it every chance we get... and thats the truth

I can't believe that most of you guys are 21 or younger! Thanks for making me fel old!
When I was 16 in 1985, I bought my first car. It was a 1983 Z28. I owned it for 4 months, but only had my license for 10 days when the car was totalled by a truck that ran a yield sign. His insurance bought me my 1982 CFI Z28 with every option under the sun. I took out a family loan on my first car and was still paying for it 1.5 years after it was gone.

I'm 19 and I've had my car since I was 17. I bought it off of eBay for $8000 and yes I paid for it myself. My first car was a 1987 Honda Accord and my second car was a 1994 V6 Camaro so I'm on my third car now.

I'm 20, going into my fourth year of college and my GTA is paid for. I also have a nice winter beater. It isn't hard you just have to know how to manage your money.

hey, i'm 20 now and on my 2nd camaro. first one was quite a beater. 2.8L had worse gas milage than my 305 did. after i got my system stolen out of it, i decided no more money would be spent on it and i'd save for another 3rd gen. i purchased last year an 89 rs with ttops and a 305. this summer was spent dropping in a new motor (sbc 400) and rebuilding the 700r4 (which is being swapped out for a th350 for now...). paint is goin on next summer. if you work hard and save your money, you can have the car you want. i love my car and cant think of driving anything else. shes not perfect, but she gets better with age (and money )

Car: 1983 Camaro "SC-350"
Engine: Mild 350 4-bolt
Transmission: 700R4 w/ TCI Stall
Knowing I just turned 15 Sept. 1, I guess that probably makes me the youngest here with a nice Camaro.
83 Camaro Sport Coupe
350 w/ 4 bolt mains
Crane Energizer Cam 274 dur/ .450 lift
Manley double roller timing chain
Melling High-volume oil pump
Speed Pro Pistons
Holley 650 Carburetor
Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake
Still on engine stand
Did all of the work myself! (how? you may ask...I helped my brother build two 350s for '70 Nova & '80 Corvette, two ford 302s for Mustangs, and a ford 351 for f-150)
Trying to find transmission (Debating Auto or 5-speed)
About the Camaro:
Almost perfect body
charcoal exterior/light sand gray interior
Spoiler
Guage Package
Cruise (disconnected)
rear hatch pop
console clock (rare)
rear compartment light
Kenwood 6x9s
Guess its not very many options but I don't need 'em when I got a fast car!

Man Bluegrassz we are ancient. I'm 28. I had no idea some of you were so young!
Well I got RAIF when I was 15. I was not aloud to drive him till I proved myself and got my licence. So until I was 16 I drove the 70s Buick Skylark on the road and Raif in parking lots. Though I did take my drivers test in him. He was a birthday gift, so yes, my parents bought him. He was 2 years old and was sold for cheap ($8000) due to the owners getting a divorse. Sticker: $14,144.00. Pretty good deal, eh? Originally, I was to keep the Skylark as a hand me down, but it became less and less relaible and Mom put her foot down and said I had to have a reliable car and Raif was too good a deal to pass up.
Well here is RAIF in his stock form the day I got him. He sure has come a long way, eh?

When I turned 16 and started to save up some $ I transformed him to this:
And that is how he stayed till 1999. Then the serious mods began...

Car: 05 GTO, 88 GTA, 98 SS
I was 15 when I got my GTA. I got it and then found out my insurance company wouldn't give me coverage on it. (I HATE COTTON STATES INSURANCE!!) So, I looked some more and I found my RS a month after I turned 16. My parents DID pay for both cars, but I'm not rich at all. Total yearly income between my parents is only about $80,000. I'm not rich, just have very generous parents I guess. My dad keeps the GTA running with his money and I keep up the RS by myself for the most part. I'll be 19 on Jan 3rd.
I hope to buy myself a 4th gen in a year or so!!

I consider my car a pretty nice car. Definitely better than most people my age. I don't have a picture to post right now because I am on my school computer but I think you can tell from my avatar.
I used to own 2 cars when I was 17-18 (I'm 19 now). I bought them both myself and paid insurance on both myself.
I've never had a car given to me. My mom and dad have never helped me buy a car, pay for insurance, maintenance, nothing! I do everything myself and I wouldn't have it any other way. (Unless of course, my parents made six figures and would buy me a nice 2002 Trans Am WS6, then I wouldn't be complaining!!!)

Car: 1982 Firebird
Engine: sbc 307
Transmission: 200
Well, it all began when I was 14. My dad, who owns one of the last junkyards around, got a call from a guy he knows who wanted to get rid of his 82 firebird s/e, he said the motor was locked up and wonderd if my dad knew anyone who was looking for one. Thinking it'd be a nice project car for my brother and I, he bought it for $700.
As time went on, the car sat, and recieved little attention, although I do admit sometimes I'd get in and and pretend that I was driving it, I was dreaming.. or so I thought. One year later, when I was 15, I decided something needed to be done with the old 82 that just sat in front of the garage. I had a wild idea of pulling the 305 and installing a new powerplant. I brought the idea up to my dad, who laughed at the idea but said he'd help and support the cause.
A few days later, the motor was out. I could not believe it, as I looked at all the parts laying on the ground and everywhere, I said to myself 'wow, this is a huge mess, no turning back now!' To make a long story short, my cousin gave me a strong running 307 to put in the car. I added an Edelbrok Performer manifold, along with a 4 barrel carb and a Summit cam. Because of some problems I had with the brackets fitting, I swapped on the original LG4 305 heads. As the motor began to take shape, I was awed by the whole experience.
After the motor was in and ready to fire, we had to make a few minor modifications as far as timing and such. I sat in the driver's seat.. turned the key, and she fired. I can't even begin to describe what that was like! I was/still am proud of what I did and I really enjoyed it too.
As far as the rest of the car goes, my cousin and I began some body work and are trying to get it all ready by the time I get my license. My car is not as nice as some of yours, but let me say, I'm very very proud of it. Heres to all young thirdgeners!

17 here, bought my car 3 months before i turned 17 back in August of 01 and it was my first car. And yes I did pay for the car all by myself, parents just paid for it up front and i paid them back in installments as i came across the money. The insurance works teh same way

This is my car. Just turned 18 in August.
My parents did pay for it, I do not see why there would be a problem with that. My Mom dropped 4000 on the table and it was ours.
The car just got new paint, now I'm working on the interior:

<-------- Ughh, what a geaser...
Welp, there have been:
1979 chevy malibu - (still have) 1st car, got it when I was 15, ran it for years, let it sit for years, restored last summer
1976 ford granada - (donated to charity) don't ask, -very- reliable, should have kept that car
1990 ford thunderbird LX - (still have) bought when the malibu's trans called it a day, drove for a few years, GF uses it for a daily driver now
1987 chevy IROC Z28 - (still have) bought it when I was 21, drove it for a few years, completed the restoration this summer
1995 ford thunderbird LX 4.6 v8 - (still have) currently the daily driver
1989 mercury cougar LS - (went to salvage yard) bought as a parts car for motor and trans into 1990 tbird
1996 ford thunderbird LX 4.6 v8 - (just bought, still have) currently gearing up for repaint, will replace 1990 tbird
I guess you are seeing a theme here, eh? I love f-bodies, but MN-12 cars (T-birds, cougars, lincoln mark VII's) make excellent daily drivers!

jc92camaro - My brother-in-law also has a 1979 z28, and I'm
pretty sure the front air dam is no longer being made. I guess
alot of other second gen owners want that it and cannot find it
anywhere. Also, I remember seeing that same car and the hood
was actually photoshopped.
On the other hand I am 24 and got my z28 when I was 20. It is
an 84 and is currently under going alot of mods that I have been
saving for. I will post some pics when I am done, hopefully in a
week.
