Oh sorry,i forgot to mention that the dorrs are OFF the car.Yeah ,i can see how that made you wonder how i would of gotton in the car!Yeah,$20 is what they charged JUST to weld in the plates over the handles grooves and the lock holes. They also ground them down, which i could of done for myself.$20 canadian is almost nothing in american money, but i also know the guy who owns the shop,so i guess i kinda get a discount.(Runing to the phone , calling body shop , running back to cpu) Ok,i just called Dave at the body shop,he said it took just under an hour of labour to do,so,anyone else would of payed $50 for an hours labour.canadian.

That's still not too bad. I think I'll call a few places tomorrow and see what they'd charge, cause I'm getting tired of having to lock my doors from the outside.

Wow, you are dead-on-*****-accurate. No wait a minute, wrong thread.

Hmmmm... Let me think... I'm looking for just the right words... You're an idiot, a flamebait, and a troll. Oh, and shut your cake hole. And you suck. And your mother. And what grade are you in. And who taught you how to type. And shut your cake hole. And you su... oh sorry, I got caught up in the moment.

Ahhhh... There.

"holds down the value of our cars"???? What value? There were {Dr.Evil Voice}one billion{/Dr.Evil Voice} thirdgen's built. They AREN'T anything special as far as holding value. You want a car that holds value, buy a completely restored first gen. You want a car that holds value, buy a Dodge Viper. You want a car that holds value, you DON'T BUY a thirdgen that is a dime a dozen and no one really cares about.

If you want a car that has a billion different options for engines, interiors, transmissions, etc. all on the cheap - you get a thirdgen. Then you make it into the type of machine you like.

Shhhhhheeeeeeiiiittttttt. I f**king HATE responding to f***tards like you; but sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

Have a nice day and a Merry Christmas tard,
Steve

You can't.

Ever.

You have to leave your car where ever it happens to be, forever.

There is NO earthly way to get inside your car ever again.

None.

I'm sorry.

And this is related to shaving door handles in what way?

Your insults aren't even worth a reply...its pointless arguing with mental midgets such as yourself :sillylol: . Its just too bad that stupidity isn't always fatal.

Funny, just noticed you claim to be a "true hick" on your bio...how appropriate. Just goes to show inbreeding is just as rampant in the north. BTW, sorry for making your 85 Camaro F41 lose value. Geez, if we hadn't done all the "****" stuff, your car would be worth at least $300, instead of the $275 or so its worth now.

You can crawl through the hatch, or install remote jumper terminals under the car.

Scaffiel.... I 2nd the troll vote...

If you had even taken a second to look at this tread....you don't even know whose car you are talking about, but nope you have to voice your off the subject, unecessary, unsolicited opinion. LT1Guy does not even have a modified 3rd gen. I can only assume you are objecting to my car. This you would have know if you had paid any attention at all to the thread.

So you don't like RAIF, fine, that's your opinion, but number one I didn't ask anyones opinion. Number 2: This thread was regarding shaving handles. You offer nothing but flame bait, so grow up and stay on subject. To parry your value comment....if anything I have increased the value of the car. A base model 2.8 V-6. Yeah it would be worth millions in mint condition NOT!!! I guess we will find out for sure when the car gets appraised in the coming months.

Wow, just reading this thread makes me thank the Car-G0D's that I don't feel the need to stick everything in Pep-Boy's onto my car.
Extra spoiler!??! HELL yes!

BTW, scauffiel why is it you think italics are so special? Do they give you a feeling of authority?

Authority? Nope. But, I do think YOU are special. (Did I throw ya? Do you feel you've been "authoritized"?)

It's to denote a particular emphasis to a word or phrase. In this instance it was used to (in your head) say the phrase "one billion" kind of like Dr. Evil in the Austin Powers movies. I'm sorry if that was so difficult for you to understand.

I really wish people would stop being so f---ing ignorant. But just to help out all of you who are mentally retarted around here, this is a pic of a '36 ford.

Notice the lack of door handles?
This is a '40 chevy, same deal.

Now this is a car from the fast and the furious.
Amazingly enough it has door handles. So please stop saying that shaving your door handles is ****.

Nononono, I wasn't saying that I had a problem with shaving handles.
I think you're jumping OFF the handle, hehe. I actually like the look. If I had the time/materials, I would like to do it to my car.
BTW, the guy that posted a few pages back about the Escort handles, you are correct. Those are exactly like what are on my '97 Escort.
I like the look, my only concern is that they are nearly completely plastic.

Back to my original reason for posting:
In my last post, I was referring to the people that were defending the hunk of crap with the (COUNT THEM) 3 spoilers on it.
I'm all for customizing. I like differences. Hell, I even disagree with myself sometimes.

BUT, I don't like when people affix hacked stock spoilers in multiple places, glue dollar-store Dragons to their dash, buy wheels designed specifically for German cars and SUV's, post pictures of your car WITH A 20 SECOND PLUS dial-in at the strip, has her boyfriend back her up online because she's "just a girl" (as she puts it in her sig), AND TO TOP IT OFF, brags about how her monstrosity has ACTUALLY won awards, and points fingers at the "Narrow-minded rednecks" who don't agree with her and her boyfriend.

Read carefully.
I've seen some of the pictures of your car. I've watched it's progress. I've checked your cardomain page.
I've tried to like it, OR stay silent about its looks.
You and your boyfriend broke my silence when he started attacking people all over again. Taking things WAY too seriously, acting like you two know everything about style.
If you don't want to be flamed, stop involving your car's controversial style in EVERY thread you post.

Funnily enough, I'm not looking for a reaction from anybody here. Just really needed to say that!

Oh boy...

If you are going to do something to your car do it well.

If you are needing help look at those who have gone there before.

If you don't like what has been done to someones car, learn from it and do to yours what makes it special to you.

Try and be polite, we are all enthusiasts and you do not know who you are talking to.

The number of posts does not make the man or woman.

Its not that hard..

Scauffiel good job on the car will see you around I am sure, RedRaif hope you like my old pmd seats that Zeph sent you.

Funny...you can't even count. There are actually four spoilers on the car, and part of another.

Did anyone ask for your agreement? No. The car that you so despise was built with HER money, to HER taste, for HER enjoyment...not yours. And yes, like it or not, it has won SEVERAL awards on the national level. The stuff about the car wasn't posted to debate asthetics with yet another troll;some people here want to learn how to shave door handles, and we're here to help them do that. You obviously have nothing of value to contribute, so I suggest you go play somewhere else.

Hmm..started "attacking people all over again". If replying to the attacks of others is "attacking people all over again", get used to it. We're not going anywhere, and as long as we receive unprovoked attacks from others, I'll continue to fight back. Don't like it? Then don't start it. I have never attacked anyone on this board or any other who didn't attack us first.

I've never described myself as a "true hick."
I drive a Firebird, and I've recently replaced the hood and hatch shocks.
There are no stickers on my car, body, underhood, or otherwise.

You want my 1/4 mile times? How does a blazing 6 seconds faster than your girlfriend's car sound? Yeah, I know 14's aren't fast, but it certainly beats mid 20's.

You win, LT1guy.

I will retreat to lick my wounds, and save up for 4.5 spoilers.

Well if you were not looking for a reaction you should have just not posted. The mature thing would have been to PM Joe about you not liking his conduct. But you made it public because a piece of you wanted a response!

First off I don't NEED Anyone to defend me! Esp not because I'm JUST A GIRL. Geez you have to go after my sig now. Its just a song by No Doubt. I thought it would be a cute way to stop people from refering to me as a guy on the boards. I have never asked anyone to back me up, esp not Joe. (LT1guy) And it does not matter that he is my boyfriend. We do not have one of those relationships where I expect him to do anything. HE does what HE wants on this board. For the record...I'm not one of those frail girls who needs saving.

And I don't brag about my wins except to show people who have to go off on some extreme tangent about it being a POS, just because they don't like the style. I say what it has won to prove it is a nicely made car regardless of where or not THEY like the style. But I have never bragged on my wins just to get recognition.

Have I never just ripped someone a new one because I don't like there car, NOPE! I don't know why some of you think its ok for people to jump all over me, but I'm not allowed to respond. Same goes for Joe. HE only jumps when he get provoked. Here's a parallel for you: A school bully goes after some kid for whatever reason, but the kid is not allowed to defend himself, because he would be attacking the bully? Well no one thinks that....So what is the problem with me defending myself? Or others if they wish to defend me.

You act like I go around asking people what they think and then jumping on them for their response. Well I don't. I put up my sig for those who want to see what I drive, or get a link to my webpage. Not everyone hates it you know! There are things that my car can teach others. I post the pics to help people, not start wars. I'm redesigning my site now to try to make it so people can look there for answers to what I have done. I get emails everyday asking how I did this or that. Just because others want to make a big deal out of what I have done does not mean I don't have the right to post here, or to defend myself when attacked. If it was such a problem, I'm sure a moderator would have said something to me or Joe, but they have not.

And whats with the wheels for just SUVs and German cars? Where did you get that notion? Niche wheels are designed for all cars. And the dragon is a very nicely crafted statue. Its not some dollar store cheap plastic thing like you made it sound. It came form a reputable store. Sheesh! If you don't like that I paralleled the "Firebird" to a dragon fine. But that is what the dragon is representing. Just have to berate everything don't you!

And its real mature of you to berate me for the 1/4 mile times. I noticed just like the others...you can't seem to remember that the car was having issues with a backfire the dealer could not find. I'm sooo sorry I want to build a powerful V-8 before I put it in, ergo the car still having a 6. 2.8s are slow, deal with it, I do! Good grief, its my daily driver! I go to the track for fun. At least I have the guts to post my slow times. I don't hide them or lie about them, but I can't catch a break for that.

And one last thing...what did you add technically to this thread, NOTHING. At least Joe and I have given helpful information on the subject at hand. Its people who come in and attack and add nothing useful that ruin threads.

It doesn't matter how fast or slow your car is; you're just another 21 year old punk who likes to shoot his mouth off on message boards...its the only place you can get away with it. Go back to school, you obviously have a lot to learn.

Around here shaved door handles are illegal. Apparently door poppers are too because they're deemed "dangerous at any speed" because they have the ability to open the door "by accident" at any speed. I wouldn't do it to my car just because I don't have time to be harassed by the police. I'd recommend checking your local laws; but if you don't care about the police or hassle, it's not a bad thing to do for the 'custom' look.

I can't speak for other kits, but my Autoloc kit came with wiring instructions to install a relay off the ignition wire from the ignition module so that the remote won't pop the doors when the engines on. I didn't wire that cause then you couldn't ever let your car warm up without being in it. But if that was a concern it certainly is easy enough to wire it up that way. By the way, three year olds are known to open doors at any speed as well.

Well,MY DOORS ARE ON!Ive got the kit, finally.Only 5 weeks of waiting.I got the SPAL kit,it took only about 50 minutes to an hour to wire it.Door Solenoids took about 30 minutes a door to mount, ground, run the power wire and hook up the cable to the latch. After the doors went on,i figured i would of had to adjust the cables , if they didnt pop the doors open. But i didnt, everything went perfect. The spal kit has the ignition wire as well,to stop them from opening while in motion. What actually surprised me was the fact that the door actually, pop and open out 4 inches, without the spring poppers!Kinda weird.Well, that my story, but now ive got to take the drivers door off because of a worn out pin and bushing.Thats another project!

I would think you could add a relay that would automatically lock your doors when the ignition is on. Many alarms have this function. Then it would not matter what the popper solenoids do. With the doors locked they could not pop the door open. I wonder if you had a shop do it with it documented that this or the above option was installed that you could have the door shaved. Just a thought if anyone else in your area did want to have their doors shaved...

Ok,im having some trouble with aligning my doors.Ive got the driver door on perfectly. But i cant get the right door strait. Its always either a 1/4" to high on the door pin or 3"s to low.And theyre isnt too much play in the hinges with the bolts all loosened.Anybody have any ideas ,tricks or anything!?
Also, all you with shaved doors, which door poppers did you go with?(company, price, size)I got mine from AutoLoc,but they seem too big.Did ya mount them on the car of on the doors?
Thanx Graham

Here's where I have mine. It's directly below the latch on the door. I couldn't figure out where to put 'em either until redraif told me.

How hard is it to shut the door with those in?they look like the same ones i have.Do you really have to slam the door to make them compress?

The are the autoloc ones, which I think is what you said you had. At any rate all poppers are pretty much physically identical. I haven't had any problems with the passenger door closing, the driver's side needs part of the lower hinge replaced so I've always had to slam it to get it closed. I think that because our doors are so heavy they have no problem compressing the spring. Some of the people that have ridden with me have had trouble getting the door closed all the way, but I think that's because they're barely pulling on it. I guess it's my fault really. By the time they figure out how to get into the seat, I don't think they're really paying attention to the fact that it's a big *** door and they're barely giving it a tug. Oh well.

Ima actually just about to go out and put the drivers door popper in before i go to work.My big worry is the mounting depth.I though that the back side of the popper was so long it was going to hit the door skin when the door is shut and it would be compressed. But seeing that we both have the exact same poppers,i guess not.
I also just remembered,AutoLoc,sent me 2 poppers, but, they are both different! They are the same part #.Both have the same mounting depth, the good one looks just like the one you have and the one in the AuoLoc catalog. But the other looks like an older model door popper, the rubber tip on it is alot smaller, didnt come with screws or the stick on metal contact plate. And it doesnt have the metal flange ,on the tip, just behind the rubber.
If i wanted to wait another 2 weeks id send t back but whatever.I takes whats they gives me!

You do have to slam the door, but not much harder then normal. I did have teh dealer not shut is well once and the door was open all night and ran down the battery. But the guy must not have even tried to close the door. Normally I just crack my window slightly as the passenger shuts theirs, or I let them close theirs first.
