91-92 Z28 RimsFactory Look
Most post I see are about polishing the rims. I want to return the 91-92 Rims to there factory look. I dont think polished version looks quite as good. I liked the silver satin look at least on a black car. Has anyone done this and what steps did you take? I need something to tied my over until I get some extra spending cash...

Hey, I happen to think polished looks good.
Only thing I could think, is to try and find a spray paint that matches the color and spray them.

Just trade someone that wants polished ones.
Or Have em powdercoated. ( I know someone who might be interested in giving it a try)
But for real man Keep em polished how can you not like this on a black car? I love my rims...

Those wheels look good but I like them as much as factory look. But powdercoating would be an alternative. Are those your wheels? And those are powdercoated and clear coated? I remember you posting about the one guy you spoke to that said you only need to coat it if gets exposed to sun light and such... Matching the centercaps is another issue also...

I refinished a set of 91-92 rims for my 85 Z28. It wasn't hard, but it took some time. Just get some paint stripper and strip the old stuff off. I painted edges black and left the raised areas the factory satin. I clearcoated it once it was done. They came out pretty good, but it took a while to get all the rims done.

Those look awesome! Like they just rolled off the assembly line! I wanna do mine like that. Do you know the brand name of the paint stripper you used or would any brand work? Also, this might sound like a stupid question, but did you have the tires mounted when you did them?

The stripping of the paint took the longest. I did it over the winter, and took my time, but I spent a good week on the whole project. I only did one rim at a time though. It might be quicker to do 2 or all 4. Any heavy duty stripper should work. I just used what they had at the local parts store. Some parts needed more stripper than others to get the factory paint off. There were tires mounted to the rims when I did mine, but they were junk tires. I bought new ones in the spring. The tires did get pretty messy, so you would have to take steps to protect them.
