can i POLISH my WHEELS with an elec. DRILL???

alright alright, i know there are millions of posts on polishing wheels, but i am reluctant to say the archives arent great, and i think my ? is a little different.....SO.....i am planning to polish the face of my wheels better this summer (they are already stripped and all that, just never sanded and only hand polished) anyways, i have access to an electric sander and was wondering if that would work??? dont want a dremel or die grinder or whatever, just want to know what heads or whatever i need to buy to put on the sander, perhaps where i could get them and for how much, and if anyone has used a drill to do this, any tips would be welcome! thanks a lot guys...-evan

You can do it, just be careful not to make it wavy.

Electric tools dig much quicker than your hand.
You'll need one to run the buffing pads and compounds though.

Do you mean like this?

You can read this info on Buffing Supplies and then the article on Polishing Your Wheels. Don't use this exact method on wide spoke or Camaro type wheels or you will lose a finger.

That wheel-polishing tech article is great....I would've never thought of that.

Tell ya' what. The first time I heard of that I LMAO and thought the guy was nuts.

Then after trying 2 different strippers and not even phasing the clear coat I thought what do I have to lose (cept' a couple of fingers).

For that style of wheels, where chances of injury are minimal, it worked awesome.
