Re: 383 stealth ram for autocross

Can't go wrong with the 280XFI, its what I have. Great midrange, good idle quality not to rough. I have manual with 3.42 but have been wanting to go to 3.73-93 as I think it would make crawling along much easier on the clutch. That 280 requires good high lift springs though. Many recommend the LS7 lifters with it, or is it 6?

Re: 383 stealth ram for autocross

The engine combo that is almost a mirror of mine is #16 and makes 491 horsepower 501 torque at the flywheel at street friendly 5,500 and 4,000 RPM. For AutoX will probably spend most of your time between 2,500 and 5,000 it seemed good enough for me. I will put mine on the dyno in the spring and hope to get 400/400 at the wheels. Look through that links pages and you can find some informative combos.

No problems that I have been able to find. It pulls less vacuum than a stock engine/cam but I have no problem with brakes or a reliable MAP signal or FPR signal.
