Any more specs on that engine I've been throwing around the idea of building a mini rammed 406

Was a gm block, old AFR 195's that have been ported to 210 cc and flow ~310cfm, miniram i think ported to 1205 gasket, mid high 10's to 1 compression, was a TPIS 242/242 solid roller when it ran high 10's with auto trans, 11.0's with the T56, but now its a ultradyne custom grind, somewhere in the low 250's at .050 solid roller, mid 600's lift. Running off the 730 ecm.

T56 trans, i think 3.73 gears now, 28" tire. Spraying a 175 shot it went 9.88 at 142 with a slipping clutch

87_TA is the guy on this board. Its now a SHP block 406 with a single plane EFI intake, same heads/cam. T56 is getting rebuilt/faceplated since it broke so it hasnt run yet to its full potential with the new block/intake, but it made over 500whp I thought it was like 520's but I have to find the thread.

On the Valve cover's Autozone Hi-Temp Red over wrinkle paint
On the intake Hi-temp Ceramic Silver, Autozone.

See, this is my point in the other thread. A heavy 4th gen, with a 406, miniram, and smallish cam like you say and AFR 195 heads goes 127mph. We're talking over 600 flywheel horsepower.

I'm assuming the car was around 3700lbs with driver.

That's why I felt the power was down a bit on that 421.

I'm kinda psyched to see the SBC fit soo well with dizzy in the engine bay. It's gotten to the point where v6 4th gens are under $1500 all day with nice bodies, which would make a nice daily driver with a 350 + 700R4.

Well it was a cleand up head, so it may have pushed more than 195cc, but it wasnt near that heavy. It was closer to 3400 lbs. 550hp-ish I think. Now the new setup with that 210cc head and bigger cam made 521whp through the 6 spd. Closer to 600 hp

3400lbs? What was removed? I had two 4th gens, and they weighed a heck of a lot more than any of my third gens ( But not quite as much as my second gens) I think the firebird was around 3500 and the camaro a little more. PLUS driver.

I c u made the switch from the superram to the miniram...do u think it was worth it? I'm thinking about swapping my superram system for a miniram or stealth ram. I saw in a earlier post your making more hp and lost some tq. What your overall opinion of the switch? Thx

It still needs more tuning. It was too rich from 3500 to 5000rpms. The A/F was reading 10.8-12.3 in that range due to too much pump shot. Next at the Dyno it will be corrected and the TQ will be higher. I swapped the Super Ram for the Miniram for free. I didn't have to pay for anything. So yea for me it was worth it.

IDK, i guess just interior but I have no idea. It has a full cage too and a big rear end. Its not uncommon for 4th gens to get down below 3400 tho. ALot of the record holder cars are in the 3000-3100 range

Re: Ok Let's See Some Minirams

Hmm GM also used to sell the same covers but blank.
If those are still around, you could buy the 1 NIB cover, a blank one then CNC the Pontiac font in the blank..

Re: Ok Let's See Some Minirams

The blank ones are still available. I had been thinking about that, having the pontiac script cut into them. Anyone have a DXF or so of the script?

Looks like the blank ones are discontinues too... FFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!

I think they were something like 140 a pop, had to order 2 to get a set.

Looks like this guy wants 250 per cover

Re: Ok Let's See Some Minirams

Did not realize this conversation fired back up :-) Yea I have looked everywhere for these. They are officially hens teeth. I even looked for the tool that was used to cast them. No luck. There are several places that will do custom CNC sets for a reasonable price but to me it just is not as convincing, for that OEM look. I was looking at getting a silicon sticker made with the pointiac exctement logo and putting it on an aluminum fab valve cover, best I could come up with.

If you find the valve covers I could mill the logo in them kinda like the billet emblems I offer.
I can make a file of the pontiac script if I find a good picture of it.

Always loved the look of the mini ram.

Wow, pretty sweet deal! I have been watching ebay for a mini ram intake and was out bit twice. Are you using the stock ECM with a tune or a after market system? I'm thinking about just getting my accel superram base manifold ported, making a cam switch and possibly a Fast system.
