Need opinions for my Superram build

I am looking for some opinions on my Superram build, please tell me honestly what you think.

Superram intake
Big Mouth Base
52mm throttle body
CC304 camshaft: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-08-304-8/
AFR 180 heads

my goal is a 12 second daily driver. Please feel free to critique and provide advice. Thanks in advance.

Re: Need opinions for my Superram build

i would go 58mm tb

and up the cam to 232/236 @50 575 /580 lift(ball park)..

1 3/4 headers

and a min of 3.70/3.90 in the gears

this with a good 350 to 383 will get mid 12s all day long with reg TPI
and pump gas

Re: Need opinions for my Superram build

I would use the superram cam 219/219 @ .050 on a 112 LCA installed at 108 ICL with .525 lift. This cam would work well as a daily driver and make more power then the cam you listed. Add a 2500 to 2800 stall convertor and you will probably reach your 12's even with the 2.77 gears.

The cam listed by Articwhitez in my opinion is too big as a daily driver. (It will work but the car will be harder to drive) A 52 or 58mm throttle body (If your spending the money you might as well purchase the 58mm for future growth potential) and headers are a good idea.

The car in my sig used to use the 219/219 cam and it ran low 12's all the time.

Re: Need opinions for my Superram build

Use the stock 48MM TB. I'd prefer abit larger cam but that one will easily get you into the 12's. Cam like comp's xe 212/218 or 218/224 or the 268xfi all work well and are daily driveable. It doesnt take much to get there. How deep into the 12's depends on the rest of the chassis setup and how much cam you throw at it.

Keeping the cam smaller is easier to tune if your not experienced but the MAF system responds well to mods anyway. I havent found a need to stray too far from stock MAF settings to work with most setups...its just timing and WOT fueling you really need to change...and idle speed.

That will likely get him into the high 11's Abit overkill IMO. 280xfi cam + stealth ram + old AFR 190's with good valve springs will go high 11's in decent air on stock L98 shortblock. Dont need much cam with those 180 AFR heads to get mid high 12's for a daily driver.

Re: Need opinions for my Superram build

the cam i listed is the one lingenfelter installed in my stage 5 up grade.
was fantastic on the street. even better on the freeways in over drive!

pump gas street tires(et streets) leav it in drive and stand on it was running 12.10s
at 112mph.(with 4.11s)

pussycat on the street to drive. pulled 15" of vac in park.

gess it's just me

the car did have alot of other parts. it was part of stage 5 upgrade
at the time.. send them your car. and they did the work.

the 427 is alot faster.and has more power.and has a even bigger cam. drives much like the old 383. a big pussycat!

Re: Need opinions for my Superram build

I'm with Orr, stay with the 48mm TB it should be good for upto 400+ HP. 52mm is good to 600HP. 58mm if your over 600HP.. I also like the idea of the Comp 268XFI cam as stated above.

Re: Need opinions for my Superram build

My buddy is doing 12.2's with decent launch with 190 heads and crappy valve springs with 280xfi and stealth ram. Drives good but definately cammed up. Valve float horribly over 5700 rpm and he shifts at 6200. Only did 330whp but would have touched 350-360 I think if it didnt start floating. He's changing the springs this weekend, i hope he can get back to the track in the next 2 weeks. I bet its a 11.80's car after the swap on a good day but its getting hot here in texas now so air wont be there. It traps 111-112 right now

The Heads are in the mail. The Super-Ram and cam are waiting in the garage. I will post my results when done.

yeah its a 3.90 gear with 28" tire, stock 10 bolt rear end. 700r4 tranny. He's now goin 6.0 LSX so we wont know what the car was capable of with the right valvesprings.

the XFI lobes are decent cam lobes, but they need alot of spring to control them. Most heads dont have enough. AFR has an upgrade spring for them that works. I'm not sure about other guys out the box. Profiler from chad speier will have a good spring. For along while, most heads came with 120-130lbs on the seat and mid 300's open which is not enough for most aggressive hyd rollers trying to spin over 5800 rpm. Shoot for 150-160 seat /380-400 open.

Then again for a 12 second car you really dont need XFI lobes. Older grinds can work just as good, and are softer on valvesprings.
