here is my latest intake project, update 1/15

Re: here is my latest intake project
with my old intake i did 320+ rwhp but it was falling
off in power after about 5000 rpm i cut it up some
more but it still didn't increase useable rpm range
so i am going to try this set i made. i really would like
peak power @ 5500>5600 and not fall off hard till 6000
might know in a week or so

Re: here is my latest intake project
are my eyes deceiving me or is that a dual plane intake?... should go with single plane for EFI

Re: here is my latest intake project
yes, this is a large runner dual plane manifold.
is it your opinion that having fuel injection changes
the requirement for intake manifold design ??

Like it, something a little different bet it works great with the DP once tuned not to mention great midrange torque!

Re: here is my latest intake project
Well since its not a "wet" design like a carb with the fuel flowing through everything. Usually a straight shot into the intake runner is alot better since your just moving air. Do some research on it, i'm not saying it wont work... you just never see a dual plane EFI setup for certain reasons

Re: here is my latest intake project
the reason i questioned was when i played
with 5.0 mustangs alot no matter what size
the engine was the rpm range still was
determined partly by the intake design .
if i installed a victor style intake i would
loose low rpm and gain high rpm .
just like going from a tpi style to the stealth ram
softens the bottom power a little but increases
the top greatly especially with a stock or similar
torque converter.
i will find out soon enough

Re: here is my latest intake project
well the swap between tpi to stealth ram is due to runner length... but i wish ya luck keep my posted on how it does

Re: here is my latest intake project
the runners started out as the originals to the car . i sliced them their full length and merged them together with sheet metal creating 4 oval shaped runners ,i ovaled the plenum to match the runner and then shaped the inlet to the base for minimal turbulance. this was part of the 320+ rwhp setup. i tried to get it to rev higher so
i opened up the base to the point the opening in the base was larger than outside of
the runner mounting flange .so i added material to the flange and siamesed into the
base about an inch or so and tried that. i may have gained a little power but did not
dyno it like this. it did not however extend the powerband like i desired so next....
i am guessing that it being a 383 with kinda undersized heads makes it a little more inntake sensitive

Re: here is my latest intake project
i made the elbow
this setup just clears the hood. it hits the padding a little
but i wanted the biggest radius on the short side of the
90 i could get for best airflow/distribution.
I just have to finish the fuel and vacuum connections and
then put therories to the test
later
