ls1 tb

i was wondering if anyone has used a singleplane intake like the supervic, with an elbow that would mount an ls1 tb? if so what do you need to hook up the throttle cables and kickdown tv cable? and will all of he wires plug into the ls1 tb?

Re: ls1 tb

I have one but its not in the car yet, so cant really help with the throttle and TV cables. As for the sensors you need to get connectors for the newer style TPS and IAC.

Re: ls1 tb

The colors match up and the functions are compatible, its just a matter of swapping the connectors

Re: ls1 tb

Its a TV cable, totally different function than a kickdown

Retrofit kit is here

Running this setup on my twin turbo motor in sig. Like said, plug and play swap on wiring connectors. Matches up and works ok so far.

Throttle cable I used a GM cable for LS1 fbody, i believe it was a 98-00 cable. Its abit long but fits ok if you run down the firewall to take up slack.

made my own bracket mount for the throttle cable that bolts to the elbow but I do not have a TV cable so I have no idea how to get around that. Would have to make your own or try one of the converstion brackets but not sure anyone makes one specifically for LS1 throttlebody on a single plane.

Re: ls1 tb

well maybe i could just go a different route and use a 58mm tpi throttle body. i have seen elbows for tpi throttle bodies too. do you think it would make it easier if i welded the stock bracket onto the elbow just like it is on the stock plenum? what kinda hp would a 58mm support?

Re: ls1 tb

LSx elbow is easier to find and resell. I recall a thread talking about sourcing TPI/LTx singleplane elbows and they were mostly discontinued or custom

Re: ls1 tb

nitrous outlet was making the TPI elbows but they are money. I got an LSx elbow from intakeelbows.com. I already asked him to make me one for TPI and he said he does not have the pattern for that TB flange so cant do it. Bummer

Lsx ones look good. They should beable to make a mount for the cable bracket. Mine didnt come with one surprisingly so i had to make my own. Wasnt hard to do. TV cable i hear needs to be at a correct angle so i'm not sure how to do that but making the bracket for it to slip into wouldnt be hard. Can use stock TPI one and modify it and weld a support to it to bolt to the manifold flange bolt.

Re: ls1 tb

right on. I have been thinkin about the whole single plane idea for a while and i definitally want to go this route. i almost like the idea of useing the tpi style tb as it would b more unique. if i bought the elbow and weld on a rectangle peice of metel to the side of the elbow and drill out some holes and tap it to mount the stock bracket i wouldnt have to mess with any angles becasue it would be factory correct right? i have the NOS plate setup now with a 150 shot so i would save money there too not having to buy a new plate

Re: ls1 tb

Where the cable is mounted is of little importance. Where the cam stud is in relation to the cable is critical

Re: ls1 tb

so if i took measurments of the factory brackets in relation to the tb and plenum and mounted the brackets to the new elbow and the distance beween the tb and bracket are the same as they were on the plenum it should work fine right? im sorry im not fully sure on how to explain wat i saying and what you are telling me.

Re: ls1 tb

Use these dimensions and clock the whole thing around the throttle shaft axis to somewhere it fits

Good enough simply wont do on the 700R4/4L60. It has to be right
