Dart SHP longblock with HSR?

Dart SHP longblock with HSR?
I have been eyeballing the Dart SHP offerings and can't help but wonder how something like that would work with an HSR. My old IROC is just a 305 tpi/auto combo with 162k. It still runs well, but I am beginning to sketch out potential swaps. I am considering the 400 cube version. What do you think about heads, cam, and the HSR in a full weight IROC street/strip car? Thanks, Rudy.

Re: Dart SHP longblock with HSR?
I don't understand the question because an intake could care less what block its sitting on top off and vise versa. Now if the question is will an HSR work well with a 400cid engine then yes it will if you have some say 195-215 heads and 58mm throttle body. As far as cam, well thats a whole other part of the equation & discussion. The head size I mentioned will be driven by where you want more power on the RPM band.

AC, I am sorry that I was not clearer in my question. You hit on the answer, however. I am wondering if an HSR would be a good choice for a 400 cube SHP motor. My goal would be to have a nice, streetable, full weight Z that could run mid to high 11's. In addition, I was trying to get opinions on possible head and cam combos that would work well with such an engine to achieve those goals. The car currently has a THM 700 r4, but I am leaning towards a T56 to get the job done. Thanks for the response. Rudy.

To answer the question, yes. However to really get some power out of the motor I would port the runners on the HSR and then you have the potential to kiss the 10's depending on the other parts of the build. Those other parts being everything between the air filter and the tail pipe. In other words excellent air flow.

Like others said it will work fine. Depends on what heads tho. 1206 gasket size on a 200cc type head wont easily work with HSR. HSR may need material welded to the manifold to build up the sealing surface. That said, a good 195cc 1205 port head will be plenty for a 11 second car.
I ran mid 11's on a 383 HSR. 400 should go faster.
