BossEFI from Retrotek Speed
Just to brag...
http://www.retrotekspeed.com/index.php
I'll be testing/critiquing one of the BossEFI single quads next week, on a 355 195AFR LT4 hotcam in my dad's 77 pickup. And I get to keep it, for free... perks of having connections, I guess.
Wideband control. Adaptive (has block learn). PWM fuel pump with no return line - just a pressure sensor. Bolts right to a carb manifold. Can do ignition control, and staged injection if desired.
I helped develop that ECU (I guess it would now be it's predecessor) a few years ago before I headed to China. Might work for them later, but that's more than a year away.
In case you can't open the link, it's a 4 barrel holley/demon ish TBI system that uses 4 hidden MPI injectors.

It looks like a nice setup! I have been waiting for about six months to see some sort of pricing and a test article. How about you let us know what its like and how the performance is?? It should be interesting to see what the wet flow characteristics of a system like that are going to be! Keep us up to date with the conversion.

Any update on this yet? I've only heard about this system now after seeing it in the October Popular Hot Rodding magazine.

Very stylish system!
A bit pricey for my taste though.

Re: BossEFI from Retrotek Speed
Well, they didn't send it to me in time (I work in China, and was only home for a little over a week and a half). I did visit their shop in Corona before I went to Iowa, and played with it for a day and a half, then went back to their shop on the way back to China for a day to play with the same car, but now with a supercharger.
The throttle bodies are really nice, and it's nice to be able to use any carb manifold you want. You can use either a standard distributor or control it with the ECU. The ECU uses a wideband for closed loop, and has adaptation that stores fuel "block learn" on powerdown (I developed that computer and software a few years ago before we sold the computer to them, but they've made several changes since).
Soon, I'll be trying to get them to buy powertrain computers from my current company ;-) but not sure if they want to buy rather than develop their own.

You have driven a car with the system?
How "plug and play" is the system? Do you have to let the engine idle for awhile, or drive around the block a few times?
Would you need a laptop? I know it has the option to let you tune it yourself.
This system is dying for a big-name magazine test for publicity.

Re: BossEFI from Retrotek Speed
I have driven/rode in their test car with it, and calibrated on it a little.
It's quite plug-n-play, but you do need to load a file into it when you get it the first time, as far as I know, so you'll need at least a computer, and preferably a laptop. Also, you'd probably want to tweak the settings a little here and there.
To have it learn, just drive it, do some full throttle stuff, some idle. You can drive it forever and keep learning the fueling, or you can drive it until you think it's ok, and lock the fueling in, or you can lock just the learning and keep the closed loop on to make smaller range corrections.
The whole kit comes with pretty much everything you need, I think. It fits exactly in place of a holley, including the throttle cable, kickdowns, and air cleaner. Not sure about exact match with vacuum fittings, but it does at least have some.
If your engine is on the milder side, I would imagine it wouldn't need much if any tuning, and can be just driven with the wideband closed loop and learning on.

Verry Nice setup. Cool you worked on the ECu stuff.
Dynatech racing a few blocks away form me work with that setup and sell them.Along with new Hillborn Stack EFi setups.

Re: BossEFI from Retrotek Speed
They did a conversion on a classic Charger with this system on Horsepower this past weekend. It looks pretty cool. Any further word about it? I would love to use this system to replace my TBI. I can't stand tuning. Less is more in my book.
