Best EFI out there.....
I've been reading old posts about some different EFI systems and I was wondering which is the best, and doesnt cost a lot. I've been looking at the holley stealth ram, the commander 950, the mini-ram, the accel superram, the accel pro-ram. I heard there is a design flaw with the mini-ram and the superram. I've been debating on the commander 950 or the holley stealth ram. Which of these are the best?

The commander 950, or accel pro-ram flows the best. the HSR sucks. The miniram will make power. The superram is a ripoff.
I'm selling my commander 950 because it wont fit under the hood of a C4 corvette. (ditching the firebird), but it fit under my firebird hood with some minor mods to the hood support. (which is required with an HSR anyway).
Be aware, commander setups are not cheap. I'm looking for $900 for my whole setup, which is pretty much plug and play, with fuel line adapters and hoses and all.

Car: too many ...
I think you should divide it up into two seperate things. One you got the different intake manifolds, two you have the electronics that actually runs everything (which is actually the EFI). They can be mixed matched. So you could run a Holley Stealth Ram intake with a stock ECM that came in our cars (with a custom prom), or you could run a stock TPI intake with a Holley Commander 950 setup (these are just examples). I personally think the budget way to go is the modified LT1 intake manifold and an OEM 730 speed density ECM with a custom prom, but thats just me. For all out performance I would vote singeplane EFI and a standalone ECM like the Commander 950 WB02 or something similar w/ WB02 (could even be DIY). But in any event, you should listen to what anesthes says because he has ALOT of experience with the different setups (much more experience than me!)

I am running the stock ECM and the HSR is leaps better than the TPI.
Oh, and I am running it on the 'bird and did not modify (cut up the hood) I simply had 1/4" milled of the top of the base.
I would not even consider the accel pizza box.
I have read too many nightmares about working on them.

the computer itself is able to run almost any engine but the intake that will come in the systems will NOT fit lsx engines

If i remember right, the Commander 950 uses batch-fire, not sequential fire which the LSX series motors use. The Commander also uses Speed-Density technology, and the LSX motors use MAF sensors. Seems like it would be easier to get the Roadrunner from Moates, and still be right around the same price.

on the LSx motors its the ignition type and trigger mechinism that is the hold back for some ecu's to control. sequential is not the problem its the 8 coil on plug system. there are ways to convert it but thats another story.

That would be the biggest negative I would say about the HSR. But, I was very impressed with the TQ charateristics of the HSR (provided the engine was not too big or too wild). BTW, I do own/run a Miniram.

Hey Glenn,
Just how wild or big would you consider too much for a HSR?
My 71 Camaro is running a 406 with fastburn heads, a "moderate" solid roller cam (240/248 duration @ 0.050, 294/302 advertised, 0.543/0.561 lift). It's in the neighborhood of 400 RWHP and running a manual trans. 110-112mph trap speeds as a target (1/4 mile).
