Accel Superram

I just watched 2 guy garage and they were putting in this accel superram thing on a Lt1. Where can I buy this kit for a 305 91 RS? How much do they cost also.

You can get it from Lingenfelter, but unless you have a good set of heads and cam to go along with it that intake will be too much for your motor.

Between $1200 and $3000.... I think you are going to be around the range of $3,000 if you are still using TBI.

I would first convert your 305 TBI to TPI and wait to put a Superram on a built 350 or larger.

I bought my Superram setup for $750 used. The upper portion was a one owner piece and the lower manifold had never been used. I'm just waiting on my motor build to start.

The LT1 Superram that Accel/Lingenfelter used to sell had a shaved plenum height and differently-angled throttle body mounting area.

Yes, you would be converting to TPI of sorts, but the manifold plenum and runners, base, fuel injectors, fuel rails, wiring harness, PROM, and quite a few other misc parts likely have to be purchased separately. Someone might bundle all this stuff into a conversion kit, but just guessing, you would be into it for a few grand, at least, for all new stuff.

Yeah, Accel has their own stand alone kit... prices I've seen are between $3499 - $3999 for ECM, harness, pump, kit, etc.

Well, if it were me, I'd hit that search button, and start looking up threads on tbi -> TPI swaps, then just use the superram manifold and harware in place of the TPI hardware. In other words, use the stock GM ecm, wiring harness, sensors, etc, but get the superram instead of the LTR setup.

From what I understand the swaps is fairly straight forward. Also - even if you did get another "Block" you'd still be stuck using TBI or a carb and be back at square one.

Yes, that kit is expensive, but that includes all the electronics, which you don't need.

Go to Summitracing.com and look for the Super Ram plenum and base (there is also a billet lid available for about $150 that looks awesome). Do not get the electronics (the expensive kit noted above). If you don't have the wiring, go to the junkyard. A factory wiring harness can be modified and is a lot cheaper.

Summit sells the Super Ram without the electronics new for around $750 at Summit (which is what somebody paid for a used one. Those Super Rams hold their value!). As soon as you get it, do a search. There are some modifications you need to make before you even start installing it, such as slotting some of the bolts, so you can tighten them from the top.

If you are going to run Vortec heads, you will need a Scoggin-Dickey base.

Yes, I paid $750 used for my entire Superram - plenum, runners, and base. The Accel 74196 (the upper) costs $779.95 and the Accel 74197 (the lower) costs $517.95 at Summit Racing. That's a total of $1297.90!

Parrydise7, I guess your $750 figure does not include the intake manifold.

My mistake. I already picked up a Scoggin-Dickey base plate for Vortecs, so yes, I did forget to add that in. You got yourself a heck of a deal on that Super Ram.

Damn this is an expensive hobby!
