I too have Had only one expierence with Jeg's and I will never do it again. Too damn long for Parts to ship and Not the best service. I think I'll stick to Summit or Carpartsonsale.com mostly

Dam, that carpartsonsale.com site has some pretty good prices. Only place I've seen a B&M Ripper for less is carparts.com after their 33% off coupon.

As for Summit and Jegs, I can't really say anything bad about either. However I know others who used them, some with good veedback and others who said some rather nasty things about both.

I just ordered some suspension parts from them about two weeks ago The only problem I had was I got 2 of the 3 things I ordered and there was no invoice saying what I had ordered or what was on back order or snything. So I ended up haveing to call them and find out it was on back order. At least with Summit, P.A.W., and most other places if somethings backe ordered they tell you. You don't have to go hunting for answers. I think I'll stay away from Jegs.

Alright if you EVER go through Jegs again. The guy to talk to is Chris. I called last night just to find out his name (b/c I forgot it). He doesn't have an extension but if you call at "night" he's the only Chris there. He's not a B.S.'er and if he doesn't know something.....HE'LL TELL YOU THAT which to me is important.

Jeg's service sucks in store also. I live in Ohio, so I simply drove to Columbus to pickup a Flowmaster 80 series muffler and some other goodies. After standing around for 45 minutes, this shmuck named "Darin" strolls up to me. I told him what I wanted, and he was like - "SLOWMASTER? You want a slow master muffler? You don't want that.. You want the Hooker Aero Chamber because it flows best." I said, "NO, I want the FM because of the sound, I don't give a crap about flow, Im not driving a 9 second car." So after some bickering, he finally just said that the FM was out of stock, so I went ahead and bought the Hooker. A couple of my friends went to the Store also and dealt with this moron. Im only going to deal with Thunder Racing and companies like that.

Not too many Jegs guys on this board. I personally never had any problem with them. Even when I ordered some headers and y-pipe and had them returned. I paid for shipping but that was it. On the other hand, my friend needed some parts for his 69 camaro and he ordered from Jegs. They said it's not in stock. He kept on the order and let's just say it finally came 3 weeks later. He ordered so much from them and summit. Both of us had and Jegs just has the part numbers and the larger catalog. I give Summit props for having better customer service. Jegs just lost 2 very loyal customers.
On a side note, I live about a mile down the road from Jegs. What do you guys think about me printing this post out and handing it to them in person? It's up to you guys. Let me know what you think.

Until I read this post I never had any idea how bad the customer service was at JEGS. I have bought, and this is really accurate, over $3,000 of go fast parts for my '69 Camaro and '73 Camaro from JEGS, never with a problem.

I think, after reading this, that this should be printed up and sent to them. I'm sort of shocked, really.

It wouldn't hurt any to e-mail this link to the JEGS e-mail, another way for everybody there to see what's going on. Anybody else think I should print and drop? Give me 3 more people confirm and I'll do it this weekend.

Print it out and hand deliver it to the customer service manager. Don't be a smarta**, be professional and wait for him to read the posts. If you act like a jacka**, the message will mean nothing to them (not like you would act like a jacka**).

I really think that they should see this thread. They have everything we need and they ship quickly, but their bad customer service will eventually catch up with them! There are many alternative companies to get performance parts from. We DO have a choice!

It's all printing out right now. Will hand it to them this weekend. I'm never a jackass when dealing with a company. If they treat me like they don't want my buisness then I leave in a calm manner. I don't need to get worked up about this, it's just something that needs to be done.

A good point for Jegs: They use those nifty airbags to cushion the shipment while Summit uses a box 10x the product size and fills it with styro-peanuts. 15 to 20 odd shipments from Summit = alot of styo-peanuts!!!

Update: I haven't had the time to stop by. I've been busy with school (finals this week) and getting ready for my spring break engine swap. I have the pages printed out and all ready. I will definatly get it over to them, I might do it Wednesday when I'm on my way home. I'll have to see. Anyways, I just thought I'd let you all know what's going on.

I work in a retail Computer bussiness you've all heard of im sure (Comp USA) and just like comp usa Jegs is Retail, not wholesale. Any company selling parts they dont manufacture is retail, and with retail comes big selection, big prices. Jegs makes money because they can offer 99999 different products from 99999 different vendors and have nearly all of them in hand for shipping. the markup is simply the profit for carrying other vendors products....
---
I've never ordered from Jegs or Summit, nor will i ever i dont think, its ALWAYS CHEAPER to go through the manufacturer, and usually faster not to mention your customer service is not from the retailer, its from the manufacturer themselves... therefore your Flowmaster cat-back you ordered from Flowmaster Mufflers (instead of Jegs) is sent from Flowmaster mufflers to you (instead of to Jegs, where the price goes up, then to you) and when you get it and they forgot to make or send somthing, you call flowmaster back (instead of Jegs) who makes it and sends it out to you (instead of Jegs, then to you) nott o mention its easier to get a response from the manufacturer of a company, thats trying to keep a customer... (instead of a retailer (Jegs) that doesnt care and hires annoying minimum wage sales reps that are rude over the phone (Jegs)) so in the end its all about mass profits from mass customers with mass orderes that want to order 10 different products from 1 company instead of 10 different companies carrying 10 different products...
Is it worth it to you? Thats why you order from them, (if you ever do again) and thats why they make money.

Update: I gave Aaron a 21 page copy of this post. He's very interested in it and was going to read it over lunch then send it off to his manager. They wanted a last name but I didn't want to get anybody in trouble so I told them to just make this a public anouncement to all the sales reps. If you call up Jegs ask for retail and the Rt.71, 11th avenue location. Call them up if you feel like it, maybe a few phone calls will really get some action. I'm going to go back to March 25th (end of spring break) to find out what has been done so far. All I really want is for Jegs to get their act together, I would love to hear that it was a public memo of some kind but I doubt that'll happen. We'll see how it all plays out.

Maybe that's why i hate CompUSA as much as Jegs!!! (Nothing personal Kingtal0n)

I'm curious how they'll handle this. It'll either be filed in the "outgoing" box or they'll need to do some serious damage control. If they're CR dept. is worth a hill of beans, they'll be on this list trying to smooth things over!

I mailed their customer service with the following:
https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/000013.html

over 6K people visit and read this site,
and apparently, you've pissed off more than just those 6K people.
I am one of those interested in high performance parts, but after reading this post, i will never call Jegs. I dont think i will ever call summit either, if thats of any consolance... but in the end it comes down to this:
I would have ordered parts from Jegs, but having read this MUCH read post, i've Decided not to. Plenty of others are thinking the same thing, i suggest you act quickly before you lose all of them.

Hope they get the picture...

Check this out guys. If we all email them at
customerservice@jegs.com , I think we will see something. Think about it, 50 or more people emailing them will catch some attention!

Now I just did it, everyone else follow

I attempted to order from Jegs only once. I had one of their cataloges and decided to give em a try. I bent one of my rims when I bit a curb this winter and called them up to order one. I didn't know the backspacing offhand and thought they might know what I would be for my camaro. The guy I spoke with didn't have a clue and told me it isn't there JOB to have information like that.

So I called Summit like I should have and they had the info and I got my wheel in the usual 2 days. I've ordered quite a bit of stuff from them over the last few years and the only prob I had is they send me the wrong serpenine belt which they promptly sent out a new and and a $15 coupon for my trouble. Summit is the best, hands down.

Hey guys check this. John Hedges from Summit Racing contacted me and he's pleased so many of us have shown support.

He is giving any thirdgen.org member 10% off any order til the end of april. He said to use this source code : : L52720 to get your 10% off when ordering.

Summit Racing rules!

**** **** **** **** why couldn't that have been given BEFORE I ordered all my parts for my engine swap!!!!!
Thanks though, that's great news. Now I wonder if Jegs would like to hear about that. I'm going to print it out and white out the code number and go to them tomorrow.
Now I need to open that summit catalog and buy that fiberglass hood.

I have to say I agree. I have recieved SHI#*y service numerous times. For example, I ordered +.030 rings for my 350. I got standard size. Not only did I have to pay shipping, but a BS 'restocking fee'. $10 for someone else's F#ckup! I also ordered a TCI 2000 stall converter last year...only took a month and a half to get it! Then, they shipped it without my apartment # on it, so UPS held it for a week. I had to pay on top of that! BS! I ordered from Summit before...fast, friendly, good stuff, I'm now a Summit man. Sorry you guys got ripped, but so did I, and if 50 people quit buying, it hurts a hell of a lot more than one, considering how expensive thirdgens can be. Thanks for the 10% discount, Summit! I'll be using it soon! Besides, their selection of thirdgen parts, TPI especially, is non-existent. I like Summit more. Pisses me off that Jeg's can fu*k with people like that! (we know what were talking about, do you? "FU*K U!")Thanks Summit.

I Haven't dealt with jegs and after reading this I don't think I will. But I recently placed an order from summitracing and didn't know exactly what part i needed, being 3am in the morning the guy on the phone was awesome and very nice. I wound up finding out the right part# the next day and ordered from another good sales rep. The only thing that is annoying me now is the sales rep said it was special order and they would get it and ship it out the 7 which was a full week from when i ordered... no news so i e-mail them and today i get my order tracking # and it hasn't shipped and the expected arrival date is the 19, another week, that sucks. I am hoping maybe the order tracking is just messed up :-)

I have orded a ton Of stuff from Summit, and am about to Do so again in 15 minutes or So.

I only orded one thing from jegs ever, a 14" Dropbase open element air cleaner, Took me almost a Month To get. The only reason I orded it from JEg's was cause I wanted a sticker, LOL.

As for Summit,

Last Month I orded some 34 MM ES bushings, And they said they didnt have them in stock, and it could take up to a week to get them. that was fine with me cause I had 5000 other things to Do to the car, and was just trying to combine to save on Shipping.

The NEXT DAY when my cam/intake everything arrived, So Did My Bushings!

NEXT DAY!

I can get parts from Summit FASTER than I can get out of stock parts from the local parts store, and about 30% cheaper.

Wait, Make that 40% !

I read this post/thread a while back. About 2 month ago. I was new to 3rdGen.Org at the time.August 2000:I just bought my mint-bone-stock 90 Formula(with a Flowmaster catback) and wanted to know what I can do to it.I went to my local Hi-Per shop(BAD BOYZ) and asked some questions about how to maximize a TPI motor.Let me digress;I live in Bensonhurst,Brooklyn, NY and I've been driving new, leased SUVs for the past 10 years. I had no use of Speed Shops until now. Here's my experience: Any and all retail speed shops in Broolyn, NY are RIP-OFFS!!!The little bastard wanted $75 for a K&N cone filter and $320 for a Hypertech chip. All this w/a straight face. So I went on the NET and from this site figured the best places to buy a are SUMMIT and JEGS. One day I ordered catalogues from a bunch of companies. Among them; Summit, Jegs,AFR,ATI(Procharger), Vortech(spelling),SLP, Year One and many more. The only company that didn't send me a catalog was SUMMIT!
So that brings me my point.I ordered from Jegs only because I had their catalog IN HAND!! They always gave me good service. No sh*t. The sales guys do seem unknowlegable but I did my research before hand.I will orderm from Summit, now since they give the discount but like I said, Jegs gave me no problems at all.
Take it as you will. I'm just posting facts.
