North Country Fiberglass

Anyone hear of them before?? They just bought G&T Fiberglass. I was going to buy a hood from them since i heard nothing but great things about there hoods and also they were local. Now that this new company purchased them i was wondering how there quality is.

in the email I got from them they said they were going to be making the same things so I'd assume the products would be of the same quality.

Re: North Country Fiberglass

Are they REALLY a new company, or just G&T with a new name? Apparently, they are acting like G&T...not answering phones etc.

What a LOSER! Tries to pretend the company was sold, when he simply renamed it. I trust him even LESS now! Changed from a P.O. box to a street address...Big deal!

Re: North Country Fiberglass

Hello,

My name is Jim with North Country Fiberglass. We do own the old G&T Fiberglass company and make the same high quailty parts that G&T used to. Along with the molds we also got the domain name and the web site. The reason George is still on the domain is because the account he had with the hosting company is good for another year so we are using his account. We will look into changing this over to us. As far as the phone we just opened up the automotive division of our fiberglass shop and set up new phone lines for this division. It took a little longer to get the system installed but everything is working fine now. George did inform us that G&T did not have the best customer service but I assure you we will do our best with our service. He said we might have a tuff time winning you guys over because of this. We will be working our hardest to get this done. We are going to be adding more to our automotive division so any ideas for other parts will be greatly appreciated. We are located in northern Vermont and our hours are from 9-6 eastern time. You can try us after hours and weekends. If you get a answering mechine please leave your info and we will return you call asap. Or email info@northcountryfiberglass.com

Thanks,

Jim

Re: North Country Fiberglass

I give you credit, Jim, for posting....HOWEVER...

North Country is registered to George as well, so I'm still suspicious.

If it is TRULY in the hands of new owners, which I still doubt, you'd be doubling your efforts not to continue with their mistakes, instead of continuing their lack of Customer Service,ie:ignoring emails, not answering phones, etc.

Seems like a person would ENSURE the phones were good, emails service, etc., was good, before "advertising" the new ownership.

I was discussing producing a Jongbloed hood for Firebirds, even Photoshopped two for him, with & without the vents, but George simply stopped communicating. I was willing to buy the first Jongbloed Pontiac hood, despite no pics of existing ones, etc.

It will take some effort to regain trust. Possibly 'Under New Opening/Grand Re-Opening' sale? A history ofg sales to people who don't know anything about G&T?

Re: North Country Fiberglass

I did contact the web site place to see how to have it changed all over to me. I have to have George contact them to say he sold it to us. I talked to George yeasterday about it and he was going to call them asap. Can you send us the pics you made of the firebird hood. We are talking about making a mold for a cowl for the firebird. I did get a plug from G&T that was started, it was a cowl for the firebird but still needed work to be ready to make a mold from. George is working on a few molds that came with the sale of G&T and hope to have them in production by mid spring also. Maybe we can offer a discount to the third gen org people so we can get off on the right foot with them. I am going to spend some time looking through this site today to see what we can do to win over the comunity. We are new to the internet sales so any help would be great.

Thanks

Re: North Country Fiberglass

Why is George listed as the URL owner of North Country? If it is, in fact, owned by a Jim?

I can understand G&T still showing with George as the owner, but you indicated North Country has been around for years, yet the URL is registered to George?

Re: North Country Fiberglass

The plug I got with the molds from G&T looks almost like that pic. But without the center line on it. We are thinking of adding two indents up front like the 93-97 firebird. right where you have the factory trans am grills. (up front) I did talk to George and he said he called homestead (website place) and put everything into my name. I have to give them my credit card info so they have it on file. Hope this will assure you that George Ostrom does not own our company. Let me know if you have any other ideas on the hood for the firebird.

Re: North Country Fiberglass

I prefer it without the center crease anyways. That was just a quick & dirty PS job. Don't think I'd be real crazy about the early indentions, who knows? I was thinking more along the lines of transferring my stock "grille inserts" into the Jongbloed style hood. And maybe, using the front 2 grill inserts as openings for a CAI/RAI, then the rear two could semi-function as heat extractors.

Re: North Country Fiberglass

My heart was set on the Jongbloed, and was going to settle for gthe ASCD RAI hood.

I think I'm going to give Northern a chance when the Pontiac Jongbloeds area done, and I'll report back with a HONEST review, not hiding my shame at wasted $$$. If I waste it, I'll tell you. If it turns out GOOD, I'll be honest & own up to a good product.

I'll let ya'll know.

So I got my 4th gen wing from them yesterday. Really good quality. The prep job for paint was as he said, ready for paint. They all seem to know what they are talking about there. It fits good. It's the real thing.

Why did you choose Aftermarket vs an OEM 4th gen wing? OEM wings can be gotten for $100or less, all day long.

I can't find them for that around here for that. The only thing I have been able to is the whole hatch on ebay for $200 and $175 shipping.

End of May, at the soonest. In conjunction with North Country, we came up with a different idea than the GTA vets. I was skeptical at first, but after Photoshopping it, I'm liking it even better. But no, I won't share the idea pic.

It is. I was skeptical at first, until I got the Photoshop done.

Look at it this way...You've only got a month to wait, I've known & been waiting for over a month now!

Now, the May date isn't SET. Just the earliest expected date. Kinda depends on the work load they have going, and well the new design comes out. No guarantee the first mold will be acceptable. It might need revisions.

Dredging this up from its recent grave....

I have an Aero Wing on order. Should I post how it turns out in this thread or is it worthy of a whole new thread?

FWIW Jim has gotten back to me via email within 24 hours with every response. I haven't tried the phone since his responses are fast enough for my needs.

Re: North Country Fiberglass

Quick update:

I paid for the wing on 20MAY and have yet to get the wing. I'm waiting to hear about a tracking number, and responses have been slower in the past two weeks. Since Jim informed me that it should take two weeks from the payment to the shipment, we're late. Heck, my bodyman is waiting for the wing. So now I'm not the only one getting anxious.

I paid with Amex to Paypal so if this goes south I think I can get repaid. Either way I'm crossing my fingers for a couple more days. In a minute here I'm emailing Jim for a tracking number and posting how this goes. Hopefully I'll have something good to report here.

Re: North Country Fiberglass

Ahhhhh! I remember spending quality time months ago doing my best to pis$ all over the "good name" of G&T Fiberglass.

How did it feel boys having your name tarnished by the BBB of Connecticut, by Bad Business.com, by the Attorney General of the State of Connecticut and lastly and most importantly by the members of Thirdgen.org?! How did it feel to have to fork over my money back after almost seven months?! Sons of b!tches, I see nothing has changed.

All of you have every right to be concerned. Like I said above, yes, my ordeal took seven months and threw my plans back until now. Over a years worth of time lost in all of this B.S. Brothers, don't hesitate to take the appropriate action. At least I got my money back. Other people only got half or none at all. You were warned months ago. DO NOT BACK OFF. STAY ON TOP OF THESE PEOPLE. A DOG WITH A DIFFERENT COLLAR IS STILL THE SAME DOG!!!!!

Re: North Country Fiberglass

Wow. Never heard about this, but better to see it now than later. Thanks for the tip Guro. If I don't have a legit tracker tomorrow it'll be time to get my money back. I already hit the Paypal dispute page for details, and it appears they can get things straightened out. If not, well then Amex will hook me up...

This really sucks, since these wings aren't growing on trees. I might have to go custom. Or wingless.

Re: North Country Fiberglass

I had a similar problem. It took a couple extra weeks to get my wing. But from what two different people told on two differemt occasions, I believe. He said where they are located, there stuff isn't always picked up when it is supposed to and gets delayed. I got my wing and love it. I would hold off before doing anything drastic.

Re: North Country Fiberglass

Well, nothing yet. I quoted part of this thread and gave them 24 hours from now, 1730h Pacific time. I guess we'll see.

Now I have to either get a custom spoiler TIG welded and anodized black, or find someone that makes the same wing. I will definitely keep everyone posted about this, and told Jim at NCF as much.

Re: North Country Fiberglass

Hey 84.

The issue lies with the total lack of response. Believe me, I would rather have the wing. But at this point I'm not sure they plan on doing anything without at least an assurance that I'll pull the money. I'd like to be back on here writing that all went well for these folks, but I'm just twisting in the wind.

I informed Jim that I'd like to see this go well. I'd be more than happy to 'eat crow' and, if it turns out legit, you'll all know about it. If it doesn't work out, I'll be on here anyway....

Jim, if you're checking this page (I sent a link to a post in this thread), reply immediately. You have a good shot at gaining some credibility as well as future customers.

Re: North Country Fiberglass

FYI I didn't hear a thing. I went to Paypal and filed my dispute. According to them (for those who have not BTDT) they will contact North Country and inform them of my official request. We have twenty days to iron this out.

In my request I put what I wrote here, including how I'd like to be able to give some good news on TGO, given that North Country advertises here. I guess I will see what Jim says, if he ever responds at all.

Re: North Country Fiberglass

Don't back off bro. Stick it to those bastards.

Don't let up. You can search through lots of my posts regarding these people and NONE are good. I was not alone. Like I said, I at least faired the best! Next step is to file a complaint with the BBB of Connecticut or Vermont or whatever the hell state they are in now. Then, slam them on badbusiness.com. Lastly, you have to report them to the Attorney General's office of their state.

But, one thing at a time. First thing is first. Let Paypal do their thing first. If they can get all your money back, then problem solved and never ever buy from them again.

Roger that man. I'll follow this out and post back. I appreciate the posts you made and will probably read through your older ones when I'm less ticked off...

Re: North Country Fiberglass

Update:

Jim emailed me to let me know that the wing was crushed and returned before getting to my house. He says they have another one going out tomorrow, 24JUN08, and that he'll send the tracking number once the wing leaves his shop.

He was evidently in Ohio for several days and didn't catch some of this. I have a week or so until I have to escalate it with Paypal. If I ever get the sucker, I'll provide whatever details anyone wants on the quality of the wing.

I am looking for an aerowing too. I was thinking of G&T/Noth Country or Hawks so needless to say I am looking to see how this plays out.

Go with Hawks. At least 50% of the people are happy with them rather then 1% happy with G&Theif.

I think your odds are better on EBay!!!!!!

Re: North Country Fiberglass

Heck, Hawks sells on Ebay much of the time. I checked there for an Aero wing, no dice yet. heh

I didn't get a new tracking number yet, so I'm telling Jim that I want the money back when I get home tomorrow. Man, what a mess. I hear they make great stuff, but if it never arrives it might as well be horrible...

Re: North Country Fiberglass

I had a total of three messages from Jim on my answering machine when I arrived at home tonight. The tracking number he gave me doesn't come up as invalid at the shipper, as do some similar ones I faked to check. Paranoid? Who, me?

Anyway, in the messages Jim asked that I verify the shipping address. Given that I sent a couple of dozen emails, and the replies from Jim don't include the messages thread-style, I'll keep hoping and resend the ship address.

Who knows, maybe the light at the tunnel's end isn't an oncoming train. Fingers still crossed, just not as hard.

Re: North Country Fiberglass

Well I guess I will provide what little experince I have. A while ago my original areowing cracked and I have been waiting to replace it. In early May 2008 I sent North Country an e-mail enquiring about shipping charges. I was glad to hear G&T had been taken over by someone else due to the horror stories I had read on this site. North Country sent an e-mail back in a day indicating the shipping costs. So I thought things might have improved. It seems the results are a little mixed here. Yesterday the gardener at my house chipped the paint on my aerowing and offerred to paint it so I was going to go ahead and have the wing replaced by North Country. Now I am not so sure. I have had one very positive experince with Hawks for some minor engine parts. Oher than that I do not know. I mean with the cost of the wing and shipping we are talking about $500 plus. That is a lot of money to roll the dice on. I have never run a buisness but customer satisfaction is everything. Please keep posting your experinces here I am most interested. I will be making a decision in about 2 weeks.

Re: North Country Fiberglass

I'll continue posting the play-by-play as well as pics of the packaging/wing/etc., should things go that well.

BTW I have family in Vancouver BC. Beautiful province. My cousin will be here on Saturday for a bit. I hope she can handle the dry, dirty air

Re: North Country Fiberglass

Jim emailed me to let me know that my address was added to the FedEx, so I tried the tracker online. Looks like it will be here on 02JUL08. Now I can sleep a bit more...

As soon as I get the chance, I'll get pics of everything from the packaging to the naked wing. Fingers still crossed, but we're getting closer here folks.

Re: North Country Fiberglass

Thanks Ken, North Country needs to take care of you. BC GTA and myself are potential customers. If it's a good product and they improve there customer service, I am willing to buy from them. I would give him the benefit of the doubt, I know shipping companies can be a pain. We do a lot of shipping at work and things get lost or get returned even though they said it was delivered. However he should have kept you up to date with the tracking numbers.
