weld racing sucks!

waited since NOVEMBER for some gold 1 piece magnums.
finally got the rears too.
both fronts are COMPLETELY different colors. 2 different style valve stems.
one wheel in the sun looks like it has brake dust on it around the dish where the anodizing is thin.
the raw aluminum is actually poking through in color!
jessica at weld motorsports says there is nothing she can do for me, that it is jegs problem.
my problem is with the coating, and jegs didnt coat them.
these wheels have now been pulled as a regualar machined item(per jessica) and they are all built to order, so if i want to sit on jackstands and not race, ill be waiting another nine years like everyone else who orders weld racing motorsports wheels.
if it wasnt for the magnum design, id have never done business with them. i knew the stories behind them in the past about waiting 3-6 months for wheels, and its true.
the customer service is not there at all, either. i believe she was eating lunch or playing an internet game while i was having my conversation with her. she didnt seem to have the slightest bit of interest and told me there was nothing she could do, that it was jegs issue. while i understand that to a point, she didnt even care what i had to say, and i was very polite. the only thing i got out of it, the anodizing is sourced out, and she has no control over what my wheels look like.
it was a pitiful conversation, i wish i would have recorded it.
i made a return call to jegs, and spoke with head of returns, and there is nothing she can do but send the wheels back to weld.
she informed me that there are always issues with customers returning wheels, and having to wait for weld products.

the weld racing lugnuts for these wheels is a complete different story. they look to be cheap hardware grade items.i should have spent the extra money and went with mcgards. matter of fact i prolly will.
a couple of them have surface rust on them from just me handling them. chrome plated? these are near bare steel looking.
of course ive had the lugnuts since november.
at least the quality of my wheel and lugnut coatings will match.
the sad thing is, the way weld racing does business, im forced to put these on my car, or not go racing.
its sad to spend 450 dollars on a wheel and be dissatisfied.

Amen to that....I'm running a set of draglites that I bought 3.5yrs ago when Greg Weld was running his company, they still look nice and shiny right now, structural rigidity hasn't deteriorated but after I part with these for whatever reason, i'm not buying anymore weld products.

Re: weld racing sucks!

greg weld is supposed to come out with his own line of wheels in late 2008 anyways from what i've read. strange to own the company, almost go bankrupt, sell it, and then 2 years later open another one up.

Re: weld racing sucks!

Greg weld wheels are already being advertised. I think I saw them in Summit.

As for him owning weld, almost going bankrupt then reopening, remember, Boyd did this, at least once.

Re: weld racing sucks!

You could always have them blasted and powdercoated or something...

but its too bad that you should have to do this to a brand new set of wheels. Coating was factored into the price you bought them for.

Re: weld racing sucks!

"did you even bother to call jegs? i wouldn't call the cattle company who sold the meat to the grocery store to complain about the taste. I'd complain to who I bought them from. Jegs I'm sure will handle it with a new rim or a return. PS McGard lugs are 100x's nicer and more expensive than the weld lugs"

i received this post via email, but im not seeing it in the thread.
i called weld to complain about the coating, to bring it to their attention.
of course i called jegs too, but they arent gonna call weld because one customer out of 5000000000 was unhappy over a set of wheels. business these days is too harsh to get on a personal level with customers anymore.
thats why i called weld, so they would at least know there is one issue out there, or if others call and complain as well, they can fix the problem.
jegs cant handle it with a new rim becuase they are build to order.
and yes, mcgards own. thats why they get the big bucks for them. worth every penny.
