Who'd have thunk it... Auto Zone for Bilsteins? #1
I've noticed for years that most people have recommended, and still do recommend, shox . com as the place with the best price for a complete set of Bilsteins. And after doing some online searching, it appeared that shox was still the best place, even though prices have gone up A LOT over the last couple of years. But for the heck-of-it, I decided to checkout the big retail stores, Kragen(parts america), Auto Zone, etc., and to my big surprise, Auto Zone beat shox... by A LOT!!!
So I ordered them. But before posting this, in fear of a price error on AZ's website, I waited until my charge was confirmed and actually charged(it has been) and to get confirmation that my order had shipped(and it has). So apparently, there are no errors in AZ's price.
I won't quote an actual purchase price, not sure I'm allowed to, but I will say that Auto Zone's price for a complete set of Bilsteins is a full $100 less than shox.
But here's where I thought I'd awaken from my dream... sales tax! At AZ, you'll pay tax. And here in CA where sales tax is a whopping 8.25%, that's a lot extra! However, ground shipping is free from AZ. And with shox and most others, there's a minimum charge for shipping.
So with free shipping, but then adding even the large $ amount for CA sales tax, AZ's 'out-the-door' price(or on-the-road, in this case) is still $70 less than shox or anywhere else I found! And for most of you who live in sane states with 'legal' sales tax rates, you'll save even more!

we're all tricked to think that all these high quality brand is only available through online.. but wrong..
I call autozone all the time before I buy anything,
u dont pay and wait for shipping, and they're usually the same price as online.

If u want them cheap wait for a 4th gen board to do a GP on them.
99% of them time, they will also cover the strut/shock combo for thirdgens as well.
When I got mine a few years ago my total was under $480. U cant beat that with a stick.

I bought Bilsteins for my 3rd gen from AZ. Got them next day, with free shipping I think. I paid $90 a piece for the rears, and $180 for the fronts.
