WS6 Store BIG Thumbs Up!! AS&M Thumbs down

Big Thanks to ws6store.com for the great service and great price on a set of SLP runners for my Vette. I told him about my ridiculous wait for a set of AS&M runners (12 weeks before I gave up). He was kind of surprised at the lead time as well. Anyway, I decided to change up on the parts list, and go with some SLP's instead. They advertise them cheaper than anywhere I've seen ($306.99 + shipping).

BUT...

They told me that if I could wait a week and a half to 2 weeks for their stock order to arrive, they'd sell me a set for $290 SHIPPED! They showed up a week later, which was sooner than expected. They kept me informed 100%, and provided a tracking number the day they shipped.

I absolutely will buy from them again, and absolutely will not buy (or should I say, try to buy) from AS&M ever again. I wouldn't care if the AS&M runners are 100 times better, I refuse to deal with a company that BS's it's customers...over and over again....Not to mention, I think I'll get better results with a ported and siamesed set of SLP's anyway. I could actually pay Mike at corvetteplenum.com to "MegaPort" the SLP's and still have less invested in them than a regularly priced set of the others.

Anyway...just wanted to share the very pleasant buying experience I had, and, once again wish the AS&M GP guys Good Luck in getting their runners.

great to hear you had a good experience. when i finally get around to swapping in an engine with at least 350 cubes i will consider SLP runners.

nice corvette, hows the 4+3? where can i find more pictures of it? what kind of mods have you done, what times does it run? is the factory ring and pinion 3.07:1?

I love the 4+3...it was very weird using it at first, but after I got the hang of it, I like it alot...BUT...as part of my off season modification deal with the wife, I am converting the car to an A4 with a mild stall converter. That way I get to do what I want, mod wise, and she'll be able to drive it occassionally. She's been around for dozens of modded cars, so I am going to "share" this one with her. Gotta keep the wife happy.

It has the Z51 package, and 307 rear gear.
With a slipping clutch, the first time I went to the track, it went 13.93@99.5 with a 2.07 60 foot.

Mods are fairly simple so far:
Underdrive crank pulley, de-screened maf, TB bypass, K&N w/open lid, airfoil, 12* base ignition timing, high flow cat, and muffler eliminators (which weren't on when I raced it). Visual mods are a 35% tint job, and old school billet aluminum American Racing "LeMans" wheels...17x9.5's/17x11's, w/275-40's & 315/35's

Here's what is in the works...already have most everything, I just need the time and nice weather:
A4 conversion, Summit/TFS heads, Hedman Elite longtubes, 1.6 roller rockers, Edelbrock high flow base intake (mildly ported), Ported & Siamesed plenum, and ported and siamesed SLP runners...pcmforless chip

Pics:

Thanks for the compliments.

what kind of ground clearance do you have when you put longtubes on a C4? did you have to do any modifications to get the 17x11's to fit?

do you use AIM frequently?

I can relate to that. I'm building my 'Bird to be an "ultimate road car," not a street fighter. I've got it almost there now. It definitely likes to eat miles on open road.

But I can't get my wife to agree to taking it on a trip, 'cuz she can't drive it if I get tired. Moron driver's ed instructor let her get away with left-foot braking back high school. So its gonna be "Bye-bye 5-speed. Hello automatic."

Of course, an auto that I've hand built, with manual shift ability and a gated shifter...

My car isn't lowered, so it shouldn't even be an issue. Also, The wheels fit with no mods at all. Not sure if that'd be the case if I did lower the car, but I have intention of doing that anyway.
I'm rarely logged into aim...

I never told her about the automatics being more consistent (and usually a little quicker) at the track either...it never came up...lol.

I'm looking for the same thing with this car...a nice, well running, good handling, cruiser that'll hold it's own. I already had a low 10 second street car, an 11 second magazine feature car, and a 12 second stock cammed stripper car...all Mustangs though.
Here's a link to my old junk for anyone who might be bored...lol.

I;ve bought 2 sets form asm in the past and both times were about a 3 month wait. For me they were well worth it. I didnt mind the wait.

That's unacceptable IMHO.

I can always find someone else who's willing to take my money...yet deliver the goods in a timely manner.

Hus come people wait for AFR heads for 6 months? Why dont they just buy trickflows or Edelbrock and pay an additional 600 to get a LE port job? IMHO if you want a good performance runner thats already extrude honed, want a stock look, and make sick torque ASM is the only way to go.

how much did you buy the vette for? how many miles were on it? ive always dreamed of having a C4 with a moderate amount of miles on it (which is about 20-30k for a corvette )

I appreciate your opinion, and I have shared mine. Like I've already said, if the customer service sucks, I go elsewhere...been in the game way too long to play games with any vendors.
Besides...if you've seen my little webpage you can probably guess that I could care less about "looking stock"...Heck, I'm the only one who sees under the hood anyway.

and the one before that...etc., etc., etc.....

p.s. I wouldn't wait for AFR heads either. My cars aren't usually even around more than 6 months. I do what I want to do to them, then get bored and sell them...

You had to throw in that last part didn't you

Sorry you feel so much frustration towards AS&M. Granted, the wait was a lot longer than most of us would have liked but DAMN!!!! those AS&M's are a sweet set of runners

In case you're curious, these are what the AS&M's I received look like. Worth every last second of the wait in my opinion, but to each there own.

Let us know how those SLP's turn out and whether or not you get them ported by CorvettePlenums. Do you have any pic's of the SLP's? Be pretty cool if you posted 'em for us to see.

Hope you enjoy 'em

lol...sorry.

Believe it or not, I'm not "angry"...just disappointed. If they had been HONEST, I'd probably still be waiting with everyone else. No question the product is nice, but I can only hope that nobody has any warranty issues with them. I can't even imagine what kind of timeframe that would entail...lol...

Mine are nothing to show off...they look just like any other picture online of SLP's, but I will more than likely ship them off to Mike after the holidays. He said he'd also match the plenum to the modded runners free of charge too, so I can't see any reason not to ship them to him instead of doing them myself.

Keep in mind this is the VENDOR Review forum, which is why I posted my "vendor review". I know AS&M runners look nice and perform well. I'm also confident mine will do what I ask of them.

As for the vendor...
