KRAGEN sucks..
this isn't really an aftermarket seller or anything, but
I have to bring it up.
i just go around random auto store all the time,
pep boys, autozone, napa, and kragen in 2 diff locations.
kragen has the worst service and I just have this feeling
all the kragen workers just has no motivation..
my favorite is pepboys, how bout u all?

i know in general they only care about fleet sales... but the NAPA by my house kicks ***. however i find that for any real performance parts i have to go to baxters, napa just does not deal with stuff like that.

The Kragen by me is ok, I usually go when this one guy works there because he actually knows about cars. Most of the employees there don't really know about cars, whichis why they get a bad rep

My biggest problem with Kragen has been, their website advertises something, they have no clue themselves. Examples as follows:
1) Intermediate exhaust pipe, stock one, listed on the website, the guy pulls it up, says he doesn't have it, I ask well CAN YOU ORDER IT, he says yes, then says no, and gives me the advice to go to an exhaust shop
2) A/C delete pulley, they list it, the stores have no idea
3) Fan relay, oh this is a good one, they don't have it, I call back later just to **** with the guy and ask him if they have a fuel pump relay (remember fan and fuel pump relay is the exact same one), of course he has one, I thank him and hang up
4) Those tire letter coloring pens, advertised in their local ad, I decide why not give it a try, they have no clue, finally they figure out they'll get them in a few days, another shipment, maybe, ends they never get them.
Only reason I go to Kragen is, they're the closest auto parts store to me, plus they offer military discount.

as far as employee knowing about cars,
autozone and napa knows what they're talking about.
in kragen usually the ppl who looks like they're manager or incharged knows about cars.
but yeah pepboys they have no clue.. but they always have good **** though.
hopefully u werent offended traviz caz i dont mean to generalize,
seriously just my close available kragen workers are all retarded.. lol

I'm not offended, I understand 100% where you people are coming from. Just depends on location and whether or not the employee's know their **** or not. That goes for every auto parts store I believe.

I'll second the thing about PepBoys though.
Same thing, my intermediate pipe, called them, oh they don't have it, can they order it, oh yes they can, but .. listen to this
I would have to pay for SHIPPING ?????
Why ? Because they would have to get it from a store in Sacramento ? Since when does a customer need to pay for shipping costs BETWEEN two stores of the SAME COMPANY ??
I have to agree, Autozone is one of the better ones, only problem is some of their stores are real small and tiny, however when I was hunting for an Optima Battery, they sent me to their super store which was open until midnight I think.

I use either Advanced Auto, or Performance Automotive. Both are close, but advanced seems to have better prices. I will not buy parts from autozone, as I went thru THREE distributor caps, in as many weeks. (Nothing like having your car just quit running to open your eyes.) Their parts just do not seem to have the quality, and dependability of the others. (I ended up going to advanced, and getting an Accel cap, worked great, lasted a long time, and when it was time to replace it, I bought another one.)

too biased;
advance auto employee. i will not go near an autozone in this area, they are clowns. other than that, i work with many of the other parts stores in the area, each of them having their ups and downs

Napa, Carquest, Advance.
Never heard of a Kragen (is that west coast?)
Never heard of an O' Reily
But being an hour's ride away from the Jegs Stores kind of makes my mind up on performance stuff. And walking into one is like walking into an adult book store for horsepower... oooo shiny! You just have to play with everything

Autozone's in my area are fine as long as you're not dealing with a manager then they act like they know more about your car than you do. That and you better not mind swapping out there lifetime warranty parts every 6 months. Napa is MUCH better here, I wouldn't buy brake parts from anywhere else. We're getting an O'Reillys soon so I'll check them out. As for Advance and Pep Boys I have mixed luck with them, Pep Boys computer lookup SUCKS they can never find the parts you need, Advance is basically Auto Zone with a different sign.
