Hawks Third Generation

Re: Hawks Third Generation
hawks screwed me once, i paid for the labor, then screwed me twice, again i had to pay for the labor, and then refused to fix the mistake that was made the third time and wouldnt stand behind their work.. took my car to a shop that stood behind there work with a real warranty that they dont try an "back" out of. In my experience with hawks it was a money pit for something that should have been done right the first time- maybe hawks has cleaned up its act?? hope soo... i couldnt afford to do business with them again.

thats what im saying, he needs to elaborate a little more! gotta hear this one too. i ordered from hawks weeks ago..i was stoaked to finally order the right intake for my TPI after i conducted my swap and was happy as can be when it arrived in the mail. i open it up and it was the intake snorkel type that goes to the TBI..i was like
even my wife says "dont you already have one of those"?? yupp, off my old TBI setup lol. kinda upset, but called and just wanted to explain what i got, i checked the receipt and it was charged for a TPI intake..no problem what so ever on the phone..didnt remember who i talked to, but he squared away the problem right there. sent me my intake that day and got it about 4 days later at my doorstep. didnt even make me return the other one for the new one (which i thought was going to have to happen) so i was very very pleased with my 1st time experience with hawks third gen. and ill do business with them again.
thanks guys!

Re: Hawks Third Generation
I have never dealt with them but in general the majority of what I have heard about them has been good. Their prices seem a little high to me but try getting an ls1 pullout from a junkyard and going back to them a month later and saying "I can't get it to start any ideas?" What do you think they would say? I guess to me yes their prices are higher but as they say you get what you pay for. The only other thing I tried to deal with them on was on some seats I bought and had some questions for them but their hours are the exact same time that I work, I tried on my lunch break and their lunch hour is the same as mine, not their fault at all but I kind of chuckled about it, as it is almost impossible for me to talk to them, but I didn't buy the seats from them so it's not their problem anyway.
On another note for people that have anything bad to say about them. Overall outside of this site and a few others our beloved 3rd gens have a very bad reputation some have said "white trash car", I personally don't get it but if there weren't people like Bruce where would these parts be? Probably the majority would get crushed with the rest of the car by other junkyards. Yesterday I was in Barnes and Noble and read a book called "ran when parked" basically it was about cool cars that maybe aren't the most desirable right now but still very cool cars and I read about a couple of cars where they said how parts are impossible to find as there seems to be no market for them and by now certainly most of those cars have been crushed so any specialty parts are basically non-existent. As I read through this I felt so lucky to be fixing up a 3rd gen Camaro because no matter what part I need I know it does exist even if it's more than I want to pay at least I have the option. Thanks Hawks and I'm sure you will be hearing from me at some time (on a day off or something)

Re: Hawks Third Generation
Just made my first purchase with Hawks.
I ordered a set of Silver face gauge overlays for my 91 Z28. I was going to order through MacEwen, but the delay in return contact forced my choice. Anyway, delivery was fast, only took a day to get 'em.
I was originally under the impression that they made their own gauge overlays. The packaging showed www.whitegauges.net as the manufacturer. This irked me a little as I had looked on Whitegauges' site the day prior to ordering and the kit I paid $60 for was only $49 there. Not a biggie, I suppose, I just figured Hawks being who they are, either the product would have been of their design, or at least the same price as I could get it from the original manufacturer for.
I'm not really upset about it, just wish I'd known more specifically what/whose product I was ordering. I'll order from them again as the service was great, I just may have to do some homework and price comparison before spending the $.
Just my $.02.

Re: Hawks Third Generation
I don't see the silver ones on their site or was it a typo and you meant white? Since those are currently $20.
Still that sucks, but I guess they have to make a profit.

I called them to see if they had the silver. Whitegauges.net shows the exact same thing for $49 in silver.

Re: Hawks Third Generation
well i ordered two products and i just received the second. i ordered a used auto shift **** and Hampton seat covers (97 z28 ) in tan with black perforated piped inserts.. what can i say... the customer service was 2nd to none, the seat covers, wow.. the quality is amazing, and there are some little coloring stitching things i added for them to do, and it was no problem. granted prob due to their awesome service and products they were backed up a few weeks on the seat covers, but they were more then worth the wait!!! also every time i called inquiring about how far along they are, i was helped and given a strait answer, and they made sure i didn't get off the phone with any unanswered questions.... but these covers, they feel JUST like leather, its sick!! cant wait to get them on the seats to see fitment, but i doubt its anything short then like a GLOVE. needless to say, im also glad to find a vendor that actually delivers what they promise! ( got ripped off on a hood...
thanks Hawks, keep doing what your doing cuz u just earned my continual business.. ( providing the seat covers fit like a glove lol JOKIN)
IF ANYONE HAS ANY QUESTIONS or wants me to send them pix of the products i got feel free to ask, just might take me some time to get back on this sight.

Re: Hawks Third Generation
Hawks has always been one of the best Third Gen Parts dealer/makers that I am aware of.
I needed the Engine Oil Cooler line for my 87 Camaro. When I called my local dealer they informed me my car didn't come with an Oil Cooler (even though my codes show it does). Called up Hawks told them what was going on and they said they had the part.
I live about an hour out so I went ahead and drove to the shop. When I walked in they were dropping a new engine into a trans am and the guys where even nice enough to explain to me a little of what they were doing(cause I was def gawking at the new shiny all chrome engine)
Great service and real friendly to. These guys are passionate about what they do and take pride in their work.

Re: Hawks Third Generation
I once ordered a new shifter boot from Hawks and was amazed at how fast it arrived. I'm very impatient so I usually buy locally but Hawks responded fast enough for even my patience level.
