JEGS? not me

ordered a new AFPR from jegs and when it arrived it had no internals so i called and they shipped me another one.
came in same problem.

thinking somethin ain't quite right, i call back and a woman answered and put me on hold. after about 5 min on hold i start looking at the catalouge and after re-reading the add it does not show any spring or diaphram, CRAP!! after a couple of more minutes i figure she forgot me and hang up.

i re-dial jegs and order one that comes with the internals. the guy quotes me 29.95 shipping so it can be here by noon! i need my car. next day i take off from work and in the morning i tear the car apart to be ready when it arrives. well at 12:15 i am ready and no part. i call jegs and the lady tells me it was not by 12 it was just overnite. i tell her i was quoted 29.95 shipping for noon. she tells me i was only charged 20 for overnite. well i guess i can live with that. so i head out to do some other things and wait for the part. at 5:15pm i call jegs again and the lady now tells me 'the order was put on hold".

EXCUSE ME? what do you mean "it was put on hold"? why couldn't someone have called and told me this? why didn't the lady at 12:15 tell me this?

now its nearly 5:30 friday, my car is in parts in the driveway and i am screwed until monday.

thanks a bunch jegs, may a crazed camel take a liking to your sister!!!!

i just order some headers and a y-pipe and when i got it, there was no gaskets, missing bolts and it looked like someone had installed them before. then, on one end of the y-pipe it was completly pinched off. quality, i think not! brad

if it was like me and my headers they were directly shipped from the manufacturer and not jegs. plus jegs doesnt pack the headers in the box they put the box of headers in a shipping box.

I ordered a set of head light covers for my truck awhile back, when I opened the box it had bug guts and scratches all over them, someone put a set of used covers in a box and sent them out,it was a factory sealed box.

They couldn't call you because they deal with THOUSANDS of orders a day.

Car: Accepting applications...
I have had bad experiences with both Summit and JEGS, but what else are we going to do? Nobody around here (even with my employee discount at Advance) even comes close to their prices. I just prepare myself for possible headaches every time I order. 9 out 10 there is no trouble, but when there is, it's bad...

"they deal with THOUSANDS of orders everyday"

if you READ what i wrote you will notice that I had actually called THEM when the order didn't show up the FIRST time and was told it would still be here.

THAT IS WHY I WAS WILLING TO PAY THE $29.95 FOR THE SHIPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and they screwed that up to.

now i don't know about you, but if someone is willing to plunk down $29.95 to get the part......THEY WANT THE D A M N PART ON TIME!

and also keep in mind, there is certainly one less call they will have to deal with. maybe i am actually doing them a favor.

I must be one of the few lucky ones, but I have had little or no trouble with mail order places (I'm jinxing myself, I know). I do on occasion get parts that are mis-boxed/bagged at the manufacturer, and although this can be a PITA, it's never really bothered me too much.

I also don't put much faith in same-day, overnight delivery service no matter how much I pay for it.

Another thing that I have learned over the years is:

If you're working on your daily driver and can't afford more than a minimum amount of down-time........NEVER, EVER tear your car apart without having the correct replacement parts in hand.

THANK GOODNESS it wasn't my daily driver too. it is parked in the driveway right next to my 'hole in the water'.

yea, if the overnite had screwed up it would have been understandable. again my undies are in a wad because jegs...
1st put the order on hold and DID NOT NOTIFY ME
2nd told me when i called the part would still be here.

as for parts....if you make one trip to the parts store it is usually followed by another trip to the parts store.]

HAPPY NOTE.......called scroggin-dickie and they got me the part, sold it to me wholesale, got it here next day and called me 3 times to give me updates and make sure i was taken care of.

wanna take bets as to who i will call next time.

I'm local to Jeg's, and still only deal with them when I HAVE to. Went there to buy a rear section Exhaust for a Vette for a friends car we had in our shop, and they wouldn't take a check without me PAYING to sign up with a "verification" system they use, wouldn't take the shop's credit card because the owner was calling it in, just a bunch of .

It was a couple years before I went back to get my electric fuel pump, intake, and dist gear for my current engine.

I would still deal with them, but as a LAST RESORT! I'll check Ebay first, even, unless in a major hurry!

Just ordered and got a set of injectors for the 88. I get a kick out of their "free shipping". Never mind the $8.99 'handling" cost and the $1.80 "delivery area" charges. But the shipping was free. I would have just drove up there but the injectors I wanted are a non-stock item in the store. And being in state I got robbed $17.46 for welfare tax.

LOL!! "FREE SHIPPING"

if i were you and REALLY want those parts i would call back and:

1. ask if they have been shipped
2. get a tracking number from the shipper
3. call the shipper to verify they actually shipped the parts

now, other than that i would have COMPLETE confidence.

good luck!!

WOW! I can't believe that you guys have problems with
Jeg's! I never once had a problem with them. I ordered
a crate motor and engine parts worth up to $6,500 and
all came exactly as expected: on time, brand new, packed
well and untouched! I must be lucky. :lala:

Just hope you guys have better luck in the future........
IF you end up using Jeg's again! lol

I personally would use Summit. I only used Jeg's for
my motor and serpentine belt system because it was
actually a lot cheaper than Summit.

I'm with the post above, thousands of dollars in purchases to both summit, jegs, thunderracing.. no problems with any of them..

Classic, Yearone, is a different story however..

its a numbers game, loads of satisfied customers, a few unfortunate screwups leading to unsatisfied people.. you take your chances any time you order from anyone.. even with the problems listed above I would say the error rate for the company is easily under 1%

i have ordered from jegs and gotten what i ordered too. BUT, the one time i REALLY need the part they screw up BIG TIME and don't even bother to call me and tell me. again, they even told me it was on the way when in fact it was on hold.

i have never had this problem with any other company, never.

call SCROGGIN-DICKIE or one of the others, jegs must be too busy.
