go slow and buy yourself a set of straight and angled hog ring pliers........... Its actually easy, just time consuming and watch your fingers seat frames and liners are sharp as all get out..

I do it all the time on Jaguars with lumbar, side airbags all the stuuff u dont even need :-) and for the trecord just the seatback cover not where u sit your butt but just the back is like $800 :-)
no kidding

later

The kit came with hog rings and pliers .But the directions are slim . The only part I see being a problem is the headrest. It seems to be sewn to tight . I am putting the back seats on now and it is pretty straight forward...Thanks for the advise..

I just finished my interior (all except the driver's seat)...I bought the seat covers and door panels from Hawk's. VERY NICE quality and perfect fit. Exactly like factory and also included were the hog rings & pliers.

Here is my trick - I installed the new seat covers directly over the stock covers and it worked fantastic. There are no loose, wrinkled areas and I was able to match up the new covers to the exact location of the existing covers for a perfect fit. All piping lines up, all hog rings in the same spots, and the seats look like they should.

If you have a separate head rest, you'll need to cut a slit in the new cover that is the same size as the "bar" that slides into the seat. Then slip the cover over the bar and head rest and zip it up. Fits like a glove!

Make sure to use the hog rings in ALL of the same spots as factory and the seats will turn out like factory. The hog rings are there to sinch the cover down in critical areas in order to give it the correct shape and fit.

I have to snap some pics and will post them later today...It looks very nice - ALL Encore velour in BLACK (it was gay gray) :lala:

Damn I never thought of keeping the old covers on ..I did the back ones yesterday and it was pretty easy. I cut all the old rings and pulled the old covers off .Then I slid the new covers on and replaced all hog rings . I did find that on the driver side rear cover you have to make a hole for the passthrough bar. Then I temp put them in and they look awesome .Only thing is that my seat lines don't line up exactly ..I will try the front seats today .How did you put the fronts on..Did you pull the seat apart or pull the tracks ..Thanks for the help..:hail:

That is why I chose to install the new covers directly over the old ones...I was able to line up everything just like factory - the old covers act as a guide for the new ones and also take up any extra slack that may be in the new covers... Just fit everything up to match the old covers & put hogrings in the same spots and you can't go wrong. If you need to reposition the cover for a better fit, then do just that. The new covers are exactly the same size and shape as factory, so they should fit the exact same......pictures coming shortly ->>

qiker: Can you just convert the file to a jpg and attach it?

I am doing the same project (but still waiting on the Vinal covers from Hawks) But I am considering doing the backs myself and sending the fronts to an upholtry shop to do them (just incase I might break something) Are the fronts really that hard for someone with no experince with seats to install?

I still can't attach pics?? Ther rear seats are actually pretty easy to install .Just don't pull to hard when you are peeling the leather .Then find where the hogrings are installed and cut them out .Kinda a PIA i found that aviation snips work best.. Then take off the covers and repair the foam if nessesary .Then start at the back and slide the new cover on and start putting in the new hogrings .Then I found that if you put the rings in on one side then pull the cover over you can fine adjust it then peel back the side you left out then install the new rings .Once you do 1 seat the rest will will be easier . The front seats are labor intensive it took me 6 hrs just to do 1 .you have to take the entire seat apart then start with the top .Peel back the cover under the headrest and pull the headrest all the way up If you have gta seats you have to take out the top 2 screws and pull off the back panels the panel is attached through the headrest at the bottom post .I cut a slit in the panel and removed it When the seat is reassembled the slit will be hidden under the head rest rubber .Then take a thin peice of metal I used a butter knife and slde it into the front of the headrest post then push the headrest down till the knife catches the lock then yank up and the headrest will come off . Now you can see how the seat is made then start to cut the old rings off .(note ) gta seats have a rubber bolster on each side of the seat .The new covers are made to eliminate these . What I did was cut around the leather where the hogrings are and kept the bolsters in place then put the new cover over them and they fit mintly The bottoms of the front seats are time intensive you have to message the foam on each side or it will look wrinkly take your time here have a beer or two .When you like the fit start with one side and don't stretch the covers to much and you should be able to build yourself some damn good looking seats .?? good luck

Here are some pics of my interior with new Hawks seat covers and door panels. The pictures don't do justice to how it really looks. The car is in the garage under heavy florecent lighting and the camera flash threw off the balance...I would liked to have pulled the car out into the driveway and opened the doors wide for better pictures, but oh well:

A shot from the other side - the center console is out because I haven't finished the T5 swap. Steering column is dropped because I'm installing the clutch/brake pedal assembly. I also still need to install the seat belt guide on the passenger seat:
