Jegs and backorder

I ordered 4 centerline telstar wheels from them on November 17, which was Monday. I received the 15x8s on Friday, but the 15x7s are STILL on backorder. I called just now and the lady said they ordered some more on the 18th, and I'll get them in like two weeks. Am I being impatient or is this normal for items on backorder?

That would be 100% NORMAL... BACKORDER IS JUST THAT...BACKORDER.... Backorder does not mean OUT OF STOCK at JEGS...That means jegs is out of stock plus the manufacturer is BEHIND on producing the parts and is behind on orders without a firm planned ship date... Thats why the dates will usually change a few times on you...Typically it will say tentative ship date...

I had some lifters that were backordered from crane cams for almost 6 months due to the 1 of the largest suppliers of lifter bodies in the world going out of business... Created a national shortage on lifter bodies...

In reguards to your wheels they either already had the bigger ones in stock...Or they set up and ran the bigger ones first..

i like jegs more. the one and only time i ordered from summit shipping was more than the part itself. i ordered a timing chain cover for 20 bucks and it cost me 40 total with shipping. i like jegs better. they seem to be faster on shipping to.

I always had great experience with both dealers. Never had any problems personally with JEGS. They did an awesome job shipping my heads and cam. Summit shipped me my first part, the infamous Dynomax catback, and the muffler was dented in pretty nicely...so I sent it back for a free exchange. Had to pay return shipping, which pissed me off, but...what can ya do.

It's typical with Jeg's and Summit. If a part's backordered it'll take a while to get in.

I buy from both places, they're competitive and they have great customer service. I never really bought from Jeg's until I got a part from them that Summit didn't have (it was an obscure part), anyways I ordered the wrong part and returned it. Got the new part in less than a week and they even gave me a free hat! Needless to say I'll definitely be buying from them again...

That's the one good thing about ordering from Summit on the web; You know the parts are in stock or not, before you buy.

I'm about a 75/25 when it comes to Summit/Jegs purchases.

Jegs really needs a system to tell you if the parts are in stock or not before you buy on the web.
If they did, hmm it could be 50/50? anywho, I love them both...

i've got a few free parts from jegs and i can go to their store if i want. never had any real problems with any mail order stores and i never order on line, but it is a good idea to see if an item is in stock.

Absolutely, i prefer sumit due to the fact i get my stuff in 2 days with reg shipping.

Other than that, i have had great experiances with both, although jegs did kinda screw me on a set of heads- they charged me for them, then called me 5 days later to tell me they were on backorder. so then it took them another 3 business days to get my money back into my account...

Just my experiance, i prefer summit mostly because of shipping, but it seems like they have the better prices to?

not sure if it is a coincidence, but i also had a back order problem with jegs.

i had some fuel line fittings on back order. i was supposed to see them in like 2 weeks, i didnt get them for about 8. every time i would call, they told me the same story about how its not their fault, blah blah blah.

when things are on back order, i think that the retailer (jegs in this case) is obviously being told the same BS story that we are being told. its totally up to the supplier, which could be shorting lead times intentionally to not **** off their vendors.

who knows...either way, back orders suck.

Its a convenience issue in my opinion. Guys who live on the east coast seem to like Jegs better than Summit. On the west coast guys like Summit better. Thats because shipping is faster if your on the west coast from Summit. They have a warehouse in Vegas. Jegs is in NJ. Summit is based out of Ohio. Prices are pretty close so imo it depends on where you are on the map. I dont think either place charges for shipping. They do charge a handling fee unless you buy oversized items.

I would have to say stick with Summit too.

Same stuff, same prices, same shipping but Summit is much better. Every time I ordered from them I had the package before I even got message that it was shipped. next day or two days and I had my parts. And I didn't pay for it. Helps that there is a Summit in my state but still. That has no bearing on lazy shipping personal.

Jegs is similar to buying the .net of a popular domain. Their only reason was greed to support their racing habits, and then proving you with a service second. Summit races but it is not their main company goal. They want to provide you the best service possiable.

Not to mention, in my opinion, Summit's website is much better designed. And nobody even mentioned JC Whitney! They're practically a joke now. :lala:

Summit ALWAYS has my stuff here next day with regular shipping if it's in stock. Right now nothing's in stock though so I had to order from Jegs
