LT4 Hot Cam?

Is this thing too big for my L98? I'm not worried about emissions. I'm just worried that it might be too much for my motor to take on. Here's a list of my mods.

350 TPI 19lb. injectors w/AFPR
B&M shift kit
3.73 Richmond gears
K&N air filter

The Hot cam should give you a decent gain, since you already have your rear in order. The reason why I say that is because the Hot cam will come alive in mid-range rpm and swing just past 6000 rpms. Now if you free up some intake( such as LTR's and a ported base, and a larger TB)your car should really fly!!!

COOL! Thanks. How about the ZZ9? Anybody have any opinions on that one?

I have the ZZ9 cam and it works at a mid rpm. You can feel it kick in at around 2800-3000rpm and it works till about 5200rpm on my setup which has the stock intake on it still !
I think if I put and aftermarket intake on it I would get higher top end rpm but I don't know how much higher, maybe 200-500 more rpm.
With this cam and Edelbrock heads 6085 and the stock intake and 2.77 rear gears I ran a 14.01 sec 1/4 @ 97mph. Not great but it was the first time ever at the track and I only got one run in and my timing was not advanced at all! I know as the car is now, and I have the timing advanced 8* now, I can hit 13.9 or 13.8 sec at the track with a couple of runs.
Oh, I know your not worried about emissions but I am and I did past them in my state.

Now one other cam to consider is the Accel/Lingerfelter Cam model#74219, .05" duration 219/219, 1.5:1 lift .525/.525 and a lobe sep 112. I heard alot of people say this is much better than than the ZZ9 cam. I don't know myself so maybe someone else could help you out there.

A couple other things to think about.
With these cams a good stall converter is needed, and you would want one at about 2200-2500 rpm.
The other thing is a custom chip would be needed for the ZZ9 cam and I think for the 219/219( not sure) and I don't know for the LT4 Hot Cam.

Good Luck!

IMHO - the LT4 HOT cam has too much intake duration for a long runner TPI setup. This cam will work well with either the AS&M Semi-Siamesed Large Tube Runners or the Accel SuperRam. Don't get me wrong - the cam will work with the Long Runner setup and give you more power than a stock cam, BUT you will be better off with a cam that has slightly less intake duration.

Gunning for NA 11's with the MiniRam II and Hooker LT Headers.
