K&N Filters for stock air box

Ive read on boards here before that K&N Doesn't make air filters for third generations, and that you could buy a similar filter and rig it up to fit. While i was browseing through a summit mag. i saw that they made filters for the 3rd gens. part KNN-33-2008-1.
Im wondering if they fit, because most people redo the air system with cold air intake with vortex filters like the birds have? And im planning on replacing my distributor cap / rotor and installing a trans cooler. Should i buy a coil with the distributor and is there such a thing as having your trans running too cold with too big of a cooler? Thanks for your time.

Don't know about the rest, but K&N does make filters for ours. I've still got my "stock" airbox (just removed baffling) and have had a couple in there for awhile. Next...ram air.

Yeah they got them for the snorke set up, and I believe for the single also. You can get them at your local auto store also, I got mine from a discount auto, its going to run you about like $50 bucks for both. Thats about the going rate, Oh and they fit perfect just like stock.

Thanks guys.... how long do those filters really last, and do they really improve performance like they say they do?

Still looking for info about the distributor and trans cooler. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well, they still gotta be cleaned. Check them every so often. I didn't and they got pretty nasty. Cleaning is REALLY easy, though and brings 'em back like new.

K&N are lifetime basically all you got to do is to clean them, their reuseable. They got that million mile warrenty, Yeah you should check out TNN on Sat during Horsepower TV, they usually show their commercial. Yeah you get a horsepower gain, cause it is a free flowing filter but check it out. Its not like some kinda of big ungrade or anything like that, The horsepower gain like 15 to 20 are usually tested on a modded engine with cold air induction. So don't get your hopes up on a tremendous gain with just a airfliter on a stock engine.

as for the tranny cooler, check out the tech articles, They have one on the installtion of the B&M cooler, you don't have to go with one as big that one but the same style would be good. I don't if you got a discount auto, or Pep boys. But you can pick one from there and they also got a install kit you can buy too, They'll pretty much have everything that you'll need. You'll prob be looking to spend from like 60-80 bucks, for that but it's well worth it. You can found some cheaper, but thats what I have and have no complaints.
