LT1 intake conversions will be the best bang for buck. The Super Ram will be the biggest PITA to install and maintain. LT1 and MiR's alleged forte is RPM and SR's is torque. With this in mind the HP and torque diffrences still aren't that great when you scope out the various dyno sheets. When the dust settles the MR and SR cost very similar.

Friend of mine has a SR in a 85 vette with a 383. It's a great manifold for power but I've seen the gyrations he has to go through when he ever has to pull his valve covers or pull the intake. The OE TPI setup is notorious for vacuum leaks. The SR continues down this path. Cammed right the SR will pull to 6500 rpm. It's a good running manifold.

The MR will be the RPM manifold but it still produces good torque despite what the nay sayers preach. It will allow you essentially unlimited potential to mod to your heart's desires. I've personally seen one installed on a 396 stroker that was starved for air using a TPIS Big Mouth base, TPIS big tube LTR setuip with Hooker Super Comps. That MR really woke that motor up. Cam choice is probably more critical with this manifold. Essentially no probs with vacuum leaks and access is excellent. Major downfall would be if you lived in an emissions county/state where a visual inspection is required.

LT1 conversion. A new use for that manifold. Millican has sort of pioneered this conversion where everyone til recently was tossing their old LT1 manifolds when they modded their 4th gens. Those manifolds are rather plentiful and cheap. Millican has finessed the quirks of coolant lines and the likes into a ready to install package at his site. It shares many of the characteristics of the MR. This is by far the most inexpensive way to go. emissions may be a problem with is setup, too.

Sure I've missed something but this should start the avallanche of commentary that is sure to come

I hear you should really use the miniram on a big block or small block stroker.

I was considering the accel super ram for my 355...slightly modified...needs alot more air for her to breath.

Wow LL! How can I compare to that?

Well my only experiance is with TPI and the LT1 conversion. All I can truthfully say is my TPI fell on it's a$$ at 4500rpm. I swapped to LT1 intake and she pulls like a mother to 6500rpm. I have enev had it to 7300rpm which was out of my cams range so no pulling up there. It went that high when I had tranny problems and it wouldn't shify into 3rd. that's all fixed now and I was going to get some before/after times but my inline fuel pump took a dump.

John, are you paying Lizard for advertisement? If not you should be.
Lizard, well stated.

The LT1 will cost less than the other options, making it the best for the buck.

I know, LL must like me.

Best bang for the buck, that's cool. I guess it is true as long as we are talking EFI intakes. I always hear that about nitrous. I sure do love mine, I woun't go back to TPI that's for sure.

Sort of like when my 19" computer monitor crapped, I went shopping and found great prices on 17" ones but couldn't persuade myself to getting one. I bought another 19" one.

Who says size doesn't matter?

Ha ha John. Just make sure you spell my name right on the check. j/k

This intake deal with TPI has been a pet peave of mine since a close friend bought a new IROC in 1985. At the time my '84 H.O. had better pull at high rpm (had to be careful not to float the valves at 6300rpm) but his had alot more grunt down low and like all TPIs ran out of breath at truck-like rpms. When I bought my '90 new I was disappointed that GM really hadn't improved much on the '85's.

<soapbox>It is ridiculous how little the aftermarket has supported the thirdgen and what they do come up with has always been too little, too late, and way too expensive. So when someone like John can figure a way to improve where the aftermarket has nearly ignored us then I will support the effort.</soapbox>

19WS6T/A91, John has it all laid out. You can get essentially everything at his site but a few coolant line hoses. If you go with any of the other intakes the techs will help you get your order all together.

48mm TB, and 22# or 24# injectors someone was saying... you could phone up a local dealer to find out for sure about the injectors I would think.. Check out lt1intake.com for pricing on all of it.. either as DIY kits, or he does it for you.

Tyler.
