has anyone ever used their 1" to 1 1/2" lowering springs?
J.C. Whitney has them for $84 a pair

I have them on my car now, I did them when i did my shocks and struts, I love the way the car sits now, and how it feels going around turns.
I know the hight change is from the springs, not sure about proformance change if it was them or the new shocks and struts, nut if you doing it just to lower car then do it.
Just a note, I can no longer fit a 2ton floor jack under the pass side, (i do have 3" exhust) and ramps dont fit under the front without crushing the air dam.

I was thinking about getting these because they are so reasonable. I was wondering how can I cut them to make them lower more? and is there anything I need to do afterwards?

Thanks,
-Erich

I have a pair on the front of my Firebird. I bought them from JC Whitney because they are the only ones I found that sold drop springs by the pair (and I just wanted fronts). Honestly, my car still sits up in the front end. Maybe I got a bad pair. I can't give a before/after comparison because I swapped the engine from V6 to V8 at the same time (so you'd think it would sit pretty low now). My tires are only 24-1/2" tall so there is still a wheelwell gap.

That's the springs I have on my car. I installed them many years ago(about 7)--picked them up on sale from JC for 69 a pair. At the time that was really cheap because 3rd gen drop springs were not as easy to find(expensive). Never had any problems yet.

16x8 87 Iroc wheels 245/45R16 eagle GSC's. I don't think you have a choice on the springs drop--the amount will vary depending on the current height of the car. On my car, the front dropped maybe .5 inch--but I was running v6 springs with a V8 engine. The rear dropped abount an inch. If your springs are OE, chances are they have sagged some with age. Also, some thirdgen's have lower ride heights that others, depending on suspension options. The 1-1.5 inch drop probably means you should get around a 1 to 1.5 inch drop. I see 2 parts numbers at the JC website. One for a V8 and another for a V6.
