BFG Comp T/A's vs. Pep Boys Ultra Z's.....

Has any1 had both on their car?? The BFG's are much more than the Ultra Z's and I would like to know how much better the BFG's really are, since every1 that had Ultra Z's said they are good, if u should pay more for the T/A's or get the Ultra Z's. Thanks!!

I want to compare just BFG's and Ultra Z's by people who have actually had both. Also, which is better for the money and in all areas of performance.

I actually have both on my car right now. I have 1 Ultra Z on my rear cause i blew out on of my comps. They are both decet tires, but the comps hook better on hot dry pavement. They both suck *** in snow though.

I have had some really bad experiences with pep boys tires, I had to replace 3 out of 4 on my wifes car over a perioc of 4 mos after I bought them due to 2 knots and one was out of round.

I have had horribile service with pep boys. There were driven out of our county in flint they were so bad. I had them put on my tires and it took them 4 hours!!! I figured, well they must have been just busy. So I go back there for a flush and fill. Took them 5 hours!!! and some fat a$$ mechanic drove my car out and said "here u go" I sat in my seat and it feel completly backwards! They broke my seat and weren't even goona tell me! Needless to say, I will never go there for anything ever again.

I personally would go with the comp ta's
I had my license taken from me on aug 10 1996 and will be getting it back on feb 19 2001(habitual offender(drive to fast)) and my 84 Z-28 had comp ta's put on it in 1994 and was drove hard from 1994 to 1996 and she has sat since aug 10 1996 and the tires have never went flat(it is kept outside). The ability to maintain air pressure really impressed me so they are the only tire I will buy from now on.

1984 Z-28,1984 TRANS-AM,1985 firebird,1986 firebird,1988 IROC-Z, 1985 fiero gt, 1986 fiero gt and unfortunatly an 84 bronco

I usually tend to get the cheapest. Mine tend to smoke rather a lot and so need replacing every couple of thousand miles

The pep boys ulta z's that came on my car when I bought it weren't the highest quality tire on the market, I was pretty un=happy with them. My friend however had a set of BFG Radial TAs on his car, and they were wonderful tires, so I am sure the comp TAs are the even better!

Go with re730's they are only $114 a piece from the tire rack. Most any tire dealer will match prices or quote you a little higher and include mount and balance. I've had SP8000's and RE730's, and I like the re's much better in all aspects; plus you get rim protection with the re's.

That's a really odd statement. Radial T/As are S rated trash... made for 15 inch wheels. Not a performance tire. The Ultra Zs are a really, really decent tire. A whole world apart from the Radial T/As. Also, the Radial T/As have an ugly tread pattern, while the Ultra Z's looks bada$$. Your car probably had Futura GTXs on it, those suck.

2 things- Cool name, I've seen it before, Where did you get it? And two, the ability to hold air over that time is more a function of the wheel and how well it seals to the tire, not the tire holding air.

BTW, Comp T/A's are excellent. Love them.
