Another HSR question
I have looked around here and the web and not really getting the answers I'm looking for. I am running a stock l98 with aluminum l98 heads from a 88 or 89 corvette and a tpi system that is not running well at all and tired of missing with it and would rather have a more up to date EFI for future mods.
I'm about to buy HSR part 550-820 http://www.holley.com/550-820.asp
and need to know a few things before hand.
1. Does it come with all the sensors I need to run the system? I know it comes with the map sensor but not sure about the others. The info on the site says: HP Stealth Ram™ systems include: intake manifold, billet throttle body, ECU, wiring harness, fuel rails and related small parts. Fuel pump and injectors should be selected separately to fit your requirements. my current injectors and fuel pump from the tpi system should work fine.
2. What other things would I need to make this install a 1st time go? I know I am going to need a throttle cable bracket for my cruise and tv cable but not sure what p/n to get, Fel-Pro 1205 gasket, Mr Gaskets 2661 water neck. After reading all about the fuel lines I think I got that covered:
(4) SUM-220687 - these are the -6an female hose fittings with 90* swivel ends. These were $12.95ea
(1) EAR-9894DBHERL and EAR-9894DBJERL - These are the straight adapters I used to convert the frame rail hardlines to -6an male fittings. One fits over the 3/8th feed line, the other fits on the 5/16th return line.
(2) EAR-403006ERL - 3ft -6an braided stainless steel hose.
3. Are l98 aluminum heads compatible with the hsr intake manifold? Off topic question about the heads. Will iron l98 headers fit the aluminum l98's? i have a good set of hooker 2055's and y pipe on my old camaro back home i would like to swap on the GTA.
I would like to know if anyone is running this setup, I notice most the posts on hsr are really old and just wondering if anything is good about this HP efi computer and installation. I'm sure I'm missing something but its 3am and I'm tired, thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Another HSR question
Do some searches in the alternative intake forum before you do this. You might also have to buy a hood to be able to close it over the intake on a GTA.
You might find better tuning options with the EFIConnections LS1 PCM conversion too.

I plan on getting a ram air hood along with this mod or make it fit until I get the hood shortly after. Will the tpi ram air box used with this ram air hood fit the hood with the HSR? http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/pr...iberglass.html

Re: Another HSR question
You don't need to buy the big $ set.. the HSR is plug and play for the tpi harness and computer. Buy the plenum/intake/fuel rails.. a kirban billet adjustable fuel pressure regulator(one holly gives u sucks. Depending on other mods.. high fuel injectors and a tune. Other small Misc stuff and your done

Re: Another HSR question
Well I wanna do it right and be done with it while I'm making good money, with the ease of tuning I could throw future mods at it and have it run perfect without prom burning. After I get this set up on I would like to put a 383 in next summer. my tpi is running horrible and I don't wanna have to spend anymore money on it. I have new 24lb injectors in it now that will work in the hsr, just hoping this kit has all the sensors and everything I will need. I want to drive this car again without having to go carb.

Re: Another HSR question
alot of people say its not worth the money to buy the full from scratch setup. 9 out of 10 use a TPI Wiring harness & computer.. Its what i did as well along with quite a lot more.. Also i would suggest a better fuel pump a walbro 255lph as well.. with the Racetronix Hotwire harness too

Re: Another HSR question
Well I'll be that 1 out of 10 that tries this method of HSR, just need a few of those questions answered. after looking at the sensors in the picture of the parts, i think i see all the sensors so that answers its self.

Re: Another HSR question
Everything appeared to be good.. had to be one of the sensors. The HSR kit should be here in 2 weeks. The only thing I'm worried about is wiring on the new harness and computer. I hope my speedo still works after its all installed, my speedo is the digital one if it makes a difference. I think its just some wires on the dizzy that controls that.

Re: Another HSR question
Your car isn't running right probably because you aren't running stock heads. Have you done any other mods to your car other than the heads? You also have to remember the HSR has no EGR. If you have strict emissions where you live, that might be an issue.
Buying the whole kit was a huge waste of money in my eyes. You're basically replacing a bunch of parts with parts you already had. And you will have to cut the hood bracing to make it fit under a GTA hood.

Re: Another HSR question
The aluminum l98 heads I have on the engine don't have EGR, and it might be a waste of money to you but for me its a future of mods I plan to do. I'm buying a 383 at the end of this summer and the waste of money will come in handy with tuning and getting more out of the 383. Cutting the bracket on the stock hood is no problem I have the tools to cut it but I plan on getting a ram air hood for better fitment. I wanted answers to my questions not personal opinions on what I bought and plan to do. I don't mean to be a asshat but no1 seems to give positive feedback.
