flex a lite 4600cfm fans (flx 298)

i had an overheating problem with the car..

first off i had a high flow water pump, 3000cfm fan(no shroud), and a 180 stat. the car took literally 5 min to reach 230 degrees and was climbing fast.

then i switched to a griffin radiator(31x19) and pulled the stat. again car got hot but it took about 20min to get that hot.

finally i ordered a set of these fans from summit. i ordered the ones without a switch to be sure these would work. the fans needed to be trimmed as they are massive. it is a great piece and im glad i picked it up.

the shipping weight on these fans was 20lbs. they are pretty heavy for what they are.

i tested them out a couple times already. first time out it was 85 degrees out and the car never got over 175 degrees. the other day when it was almost 100 out the car never got over 190.

for anyone having overheating issues or are running way too hot, BUY THESE.

dont say anything about the metal strapping, i still need to make a cover

The primary prevention against overheating is the shroud.Without one,you can have the big bad wolf huff and puff and blow the rad down and it will overheat.

I had a stock fan and shroud on it at one point, and it was just a bad but i would imagine that the stock fan was garbage.

I figured it would have stayed cool if i made a shroud with the 3000cfm fan but it was easier to have a guaranteed fix

good info. I am going to need a nice dual electric fan setup for my charger when the time comes.

What about the air dams under the car. Are they still attached? If the air are gone the just won't cool properly. At 30mph your fans shouldn't even to be on.
I bought an aluminum (champion 3 row) radiator on eBay and it drops right in with no mods. I have a built 355 and my car cools great with everything else stock.

My air dam is still attached, the problem was most likely the lack of the shroud.

Anyways, its not like it take a couple hours to trim the corner of the shroud. Less than 5 min with a cutoff wheel and a file
