Jegs Rocker Arms. Thoughts?

http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performan...20105/10002/-1

Saw these the other day in the Jegs catalog. What does everyone think? Surely these have to be better than the $150 proform set that have been known to break in half.

I've been wanting to upgrade to some good 1.6 roller rockers for awhile now but don't want to pay the $350 comp cams pricetag.

Aside from the false advertising, they look pretty legit.

Yeah. What?

Maybe he's talking about the added HP claim. I wouldn't think 10 - 15HP depending on the motor is an outrageous claim over 1.5 stamped steel rockers.

Re: Jegs Rocker Arms. Thoughts?

i saw you mention the proform ones breaking. maybe i got lucky, but ive been useing a set of theyre 1.6s, self-aligning for about 2 years now. no problems. ive not used the jegs brand, but ive been pretty happy with theyre products over the years. im curious also what people think of the jegs rockers.

I can't remember what forum it was on but someone had a set of the proforms break.

This is the reason I did not use them because the price tag looked very attractive. As for pro-form, I have one if their shift lites that seems to do its job well but you can't compare a shift light to a set of rocker arms.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. I highly doubt rockers can give you 15 hp, unless you have some seriously bad rockers already on the engine. I'm kind of skeptical about the higher rpm range as well, I may be mistaken but I would think your lifters would float before you would have rocker problems.

Re: Jegs Rocker Arms. Thoughts?

I would atleast go with Scorpion rockers if you dont want to spend the money on Pro Mags.

I would like to see who builds the Jegs rockers.

Re: Jegs Rocker Arms. Thoughts?

If you're gonna call out Jegs for false advertising about HP gains then there is a long list of vendors and manufacturers to add... I think 10-15 HP could be possible because of reduced weight and friction along with a higher "lift". I think those numbers are as plausible as 30HP from an air filter or cat back.

Just my $.02

EDIT: And these rocker arms aren't limited to flat tappet hydraulic applications. Think roller and solid lifters and good aftermarket hydraulics for that matter...

All that being said I have no experience with these particular rockers.

Re: Jegs Rocker Arms. Thoughts?

im only running a mild cam with just under .500 valve lift. not a daily driver, but its been pushed to 7,200 rpm many times. only hyd flat tappet. ive seen alot of people with valvetrain/cam problems who dont understand how to adjust theyre valves/rockers properly.
of course im NOT talking about the guys who are running full race engines.
i agree, the pro mags would be the way to go on an unlimited budget. heres 2 years of abuse on these cheapys. lol. Name: 021802_170101.jpg

I read an article put of by Comp Cams which they claimed switching to CM rods and Magnum rollers as 12-15 hp over stock.

That actually would not be very smart. Here's why.

For the same price as a set of pro mags, I could have bought a complete XE268 kit. I just had the whole top of the motor torn off last week and the only reason I didn't do a Cam swap was because I didn't quite have enough to afford the kit.

I'll be damned if I would choose 1.6 rockers over a Cam and lifters package from a performance standpoint.

Re: Jegs Rocker Arms. Thoughts?

uh, i never recommend 1.6:1 ratio rockers.

1.52:1 pro mags is what i recommend. those stock rockers will never keep up with the demands of a decent sized cam, nor the rpm range. you're taking what i meant out of context a bit. if you need roller rockers, and drive your car on the street, i recommend the pro mags always, cause they are the most reliable.

but if you got a stock or stockish cam and intend to keep it that way, look at the magnum roller tip rockers for an inexpensive upgrade

but we're talking about rockers in general here, not what performance gain a single mod will do over another for the same money. for the same money you spent doing whatever the heck it was you were doing with the engine apart, i'm sure i could have done it better and made more power doing something different, just sayin'...

1.6 rockers paired with an XE268 Cam later down the road are not going to pose any problems.

Re: Jegs Rocker Arms. Thoughts?

meh, i don't like 1.6:1 ratio rockers. puts too much lateral stress on the valve stems. causes wierd wear in the valve guides and such.

ya'll do whatever ya want
