Patriot is a very good company, I have their 725hp, 496 bbc in my 88 camaro race car. It weighs in at 4000lbs with me in it and the said I should run about 10.45. My best pass to date has been a 10.24 at 133.04 mph! tHEY HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL AND VERY IMPRESSED WITH HOW IT IS PERFORMIONG!

I agree with this question every crate I have ever ordered with a dyno sheet needed no adjusting after dropping in the motor. I find it hard to believe that they dyno'd your engine

Re: Patriot Performance 383ci 450hp Crate Motor Review
Well it's possible they didn't dyno the engine at the time they shipped it to me because i do believe either the engine was a return or a reman like i said Jegs did me a huge favor by taking my other engine back.So who knows what Jegs told them to send me to save money.
Engine is still running strong just put a t56 behind it and love it even more..everything else is irrelevant at this point,i haven't had any problems besides the rocker arms, which if you read the thread they sent me new ones without a hassle.
If i could go back in time i would have pushed Jegs to the side and ordered straight from patriot's website. As it seems Jegs had alot to do with why i received an older 500hp model and not the newer dart block 450hp..
But still am happy with my purchase to this day and would do it again.

Any company with it's name tries to portray themselves as American is a totally owned off shore and then builds, machines, all their parts off shore is a deal breaker for me.First impression is kind of dishonest. Then the clincher is they forced a huge mid western dealer to eat 2/3's of his head inventory due to bad castings.
Just the same as it is everywhere else.If it sounds too good to be true...........

Re: Patriot Performance 383ci 450hp Crate Motor Review
They use Dart blocks in their engines but china castings in their heads. I think most GM and Dodge heads are cast in china. The machine and assembly work is done in American in alabama right HERE
Based on what was posted.........someone tried to slip one by.

Engine is still in the car and running great no issues to report, not exactly sure of the mileage but it's probably got about 15K~..

Re: Patriot Performance 383ci 450hp Crate Motor Review
There's nothing better than having your built by your own mechanic. I got my motor from Dyno used with 20,000 miles on it. He built himself and he's ex-professional Drag Car Driver and he knows and works/builds everything on 3rd from bumper to bumper.
Anyway this the motor he built that I now own. It's CA smog legal and has 350+ RWHP 373RWTQ (it is TPI so harder to make power than with a carb.) :
The Short Block:
4-bolt main roller Vortec "880 casting #
TRW forged pistons .030 over (357cu. in.)
ZZ4 powdered metal rods
Cast crank offset ground
.020 deck height
Compression 10.6/1
The Heads:
Edelbrock E-tec 200's 90989 #
Fully ported by "Jerrywho"
Flow #'s 270/218 w/o pipe
Milled to 60 CC's
Dual springs good to .600 lift 135/360 pressure #'s
With 10 degree locks.
Camshaft:
Crower cam 225/232 114 LSA (installed on 110* intake centerline)
Lift .585 intake .550 Exhaust
Roller rockers 1.65 intake/ 1.5 Exhaust
Cloyes double roller chain
Melling 55A oil pump
Manley head bolts and washers

Re: Patriot Performance 383ci 450hp Crate Motor Review
i had a set of patriot stage 2 cnc ported 5.3 heads on my ls1 for awhile. those heads made less power than my stock LS6 heads i have on the car now. they looked great, but performed sub-par.
not trying to take anything away from the op, as long as his stuff runs good and he's happy, thats all that matters.

Re: Patriot Performance 383ci 450hp Crate Motor Review
There heads are junk I've head a new set for a few couple years. I finally have the parts to put the motor together. After inspection in and out i have sent the heads out for new guides, seats actual 5 angle valve job and completely reshaped port work due to the fact the castings were never ment to hold a 2.08 1.60 valve combo. Small heads may be better but i also own and am trying to run there vortec heads and having nothing but problems with them JUNK buyer beware

Re: Patriot Performance 383ci 450hp Crate Motor Review
I just want to second the opinion of junk blueprint engines. Had valve train geometry issues from day one, blow by, rediculous oil consumption( 5 qts between 2500 mile oil changes, or 1 quart every 15 passes at the strip). Always had funny bottom end noise and oil leaks everywhere. Thankfully it grenaded one month before warranty ended and they honored warranty. Got it back and sold it on cl before it ever came out of the crate and went LS with the money ( plus some). Customer service was good and very polite, just do not trust their products in the least.

Re: Patriot Performance 383ci 450hp Crate Motor Review
Just an update everybody.
Engine still running good, no problems. Installed Doug's Long Tubes over the weekend waiting to get the car back from the exhaust shop getting a new Y Fabbed up.
Patriot Performance is gone, the company went under or was sold not sure..
Can't remember how many miles are on the motor since i've lost track without a working speedo, but next summer will be the 3rd summer of it in the car.
And yes i would NEVER buy a Blueprint Engine again. lol

Re: Patriot Performance 383ci 450hp Crate Motor Review
Wonder who got all the stock and when they will be selling off the stuff cheap?
I'd buy some patriot heads if they were cheap enough!
