A few have them on these boards, I have nothing against them. That pic does no justice to them though.

Re: Camaro Lambo Doors

There was a guy here locally that had a 2002 LS1 6 speed car he did that to. He lost his job and tried to sell the car. He ended up getting $2500 and two days later it was on craig's list again with the engine/trans gone and being parted out. I think he said he spend over $2000 to have the doors done at a body shop.

I am surprised a fellow member I had a small argument over 20'+ wheels on our cars has not come in here saying Lambo doors are high dollar and not to be mad due to me not affording them.

Still for the sake of it, I am sure theres some third gens out there with this mod that are probably passable.

Re: Camaro Lambo Doors

Don't try to church it up son. A Camaro is a Chevrolet, not a Lamborghini. For every one person that says "oh cool, Lambo doors!" there are 50 others pointing and laughing. Might as well get a contingency sticker starter pack and start tagging up every inch of sheetmetal, or buy all the chromed plastic, stick on garbage from the local Walmart and tacky your ride up. Most all of those 'custom' touches are subject to being tacky, Lambo doors included.

to each there own...the doors go way to high on that red one but i think if they are tastefully done to where they look good, then why not? screw the haters, do to YOUR car what you like.

Kewl is in the eye of the beholder!!!! I think it'd be boring as all get out if we all did everything we could possibly do to "preserve" some anemic 305 powered stocker!!!! I like to go fast and use a car as an expression of art!! Can't draw stick people unless I use a compass and a ruler, but I can sure as heck bend some 20ga into unique shapes!!!!

I figured restored cars were for people with no imagination!!!!

If you want lambo doors, green paint with yellow stripes, and a blown and injected Hemi in your 3rd Gen then JUST DO IT!!!!! Ain't no rules on this Hot Rodding stuff, if you like it then it's fine, if someone else doesn't, too bad!

i dont know about the "restored cars = no imagination" stuff.. but i would agree just do it.

one of the things i hate to see is when people post threads with a picture of something and says they want to put it on, but want to know what others thoguht of it..

im not bashing just saying..

heres what i have to say to ya tho brother. if you want a **** green third gen with no fenders and lambo doors hell if you want to just have a frame and glass would i do it? probly not. but i would respect you for doing what you liked, not following the crowd. i have lots of respect for the people who just say to hell with others i like the way that looks. YOU need to be happy with your car... not us...

Re: Camaro Lambo Doors

Eliminating door sag is a plus, but I'd be worried about how the weatherstripping seals up with the lambo door windows. The weatherstripping is designed to catch the window tightly when it is closed from the side. I'm not sure if it'll work coming downward--it may snag the lip of the weatherstripping instead of sliding underneath it. It may not be a problem, but I'd look into it first before putting down any cash on them. I'd especially find out how they fit on your specific car--there may be differences/problems between a hardtop and t-top car. The yellow and green car is a hardtop.

My 2 cents on buying these doors involves how long you plan on keeping the car. If someone ever plans on selling their car with these doors on it, it's going to seriously cut into what the car sells for, just like most styles of rims/cheap wheels, sound systems, spoilers, wings, weird paint jobs (like the green and yellow one), etc. If someone plans on keeping the car for a long period of time, then they can't lose by customizing it the way they like it.

Personally, I've had my '86 Iroc since 1993, and they'll have to pry the steering wheel out of my cold, dead hands. So, I've never worried about resale.

To each his own, but to me, the beauty of a car depends largely on it's connection to the functionality that drove the design. With a countach, the doors solved a problem of being able to enter a low car with a huge sill. In a third gen, no such problem exists, so at least in my eye, there's no need to overly complicate something as simple as a door for the sake of "uniqueness". Just my $.02

I'm closing this thread as it is not APR and keeps running into the same loop with the same tired lambo door picture over and over and over (I've deleted them over and over).
