Agreed. That stuff eats up metal parts and gaskets like no other. Remember the GM debacle with the 3.1L intake gaskets? Gaskets were fine for green but not specced for dexcool

Re: Which Anti-Freeze is best?

I use the peak extended life stuff with a little water added. There is no better corrosion protector then coolant. BUT, nothing cools better then water. Get a combination of both and you'll be good to go.

Re: Which Anti-Freeze is best?

Get the cheapest green stuff. Water is the best coolant btw, I run straight water in all my cars spring-fall, then drain a little and add antifreeze until the tester says it's safe (-20* here in wisconsin) for winter.

Re: Which Anti-Freeze is best?

otherwise, winter i run 50/50 of watevers on sale, and it gets cold in JERSEY! i like to be around -25/-30 for the winter. in the spring like today actually lol, i drained the radiator about 1.25gallons and threw in tap water with water wetter. u never want to run straight tap water or just straight tap water with water wetter. personally the best thing to run is 15-25% antifreeze and tap water with water wetter. water wetter does have some anti corrosion properties but they dnt recomend it with just straight tap water.

if u got some money to blow u could use straight distilled water and water wetter for the max cooling and it being cheaper than the premade ICE stuff.
