Speed Pro Pistons

Has anyone delt with Speed Pro before? Are these pistons any good?

I bought some, but have yet to build my motor, the quality seems mostly there.

Re: Speed Pro Forged Pistons

Speed Pro makes a fine piston. The only drawback is their pistons are a little heavier than most of the others.

Re: Speed Pro Forged Pistons

Alright, cool. Glad to hear the positive reviews... I'm looking at purchasing a rebuild kit from summit with these pistons and soon am going to experiment with some boost

Re: Speed Pro Forged Pistons

That's what just went into the all forged 355 I just built.

Scatt Billit/balanced/knife edged crank, Eagle forged H-Beams, and Speed Pro "power forged" pistons. As above though, she has yet to be fired. While the large Hyd-Roller bump stick is in place, I've yet to decide on heads...

Good Luck,
Max

im not saying they are bad, but i am saying make sure to check them out real well, inside and out.
they are cheap becasue they are made in china, and china if famous for zip quality control. dont assume that they are good because they are shinney and new.
china will pass almost anythng that is cast through its alleged quality control system. there quality control is "if we can sell it - its ok".
you are going to be running at high temps and hi rpms, so their policcy of replacing the bad piston will do you no good if you have to replace the entire engine, or the crank, or the piston fails and you run a rod up into you new heads.
spend the money to check them first.

you can ultra sound them for flaws.

Re: Speed Pro Forged Pistons

i have 30k on my rebuild with forged speed pro pistons. alls good and no noise. just make sure the machine shop fits the pistons to the bores when they machine, if they wanna bore it without the piston they are not a good machine shop because they are assuming the piston is going to be proper.

Re: Speed Pro Forged Pistons

UnderCover89TBI has a good point!! If your switching from stock pistons, crank, and or crank. Have everything balanced also to insure trouble free service..
