BBK Throttle body for a 305 TPI
I recently added a 3" flow master exhaust and headers to my 91 Covertible with 305 TPI. I was now thinking about flipping for the BBK 58mm Throttle Body. Is this a good product, and worth changing the stock throttle body for????

Check out the FAQ on the TPI board.Stock 48 mm is good on a engines up to the 12`s or better.Money could be better spent on other mods. Please read the FAQ and/or use the Its been covered.

Re: BBK Throttle body for a 305 TPI
hi im new to this website and cant figure out how to start a new topic and whatnot. but i was wondering if i could get someadvice for my 87 iroc-z. when i bought the car it needed a main bearing and i wanted to put a bigger motor than the 305 in it. so i went out driving it around and the motor sezed up in it. ya it was pretty rediculous to do it in the first place. but anyway my gfs step dad told me he had a 327 out of a 68 corvette that should fit right in my car. and he also told me that the tpi should fit insted of geting a carb for it. Is this something that is going to be easy to do and will this motor fit right into my car with the tpi? he also is throwing in headers he paid 400 dollars for that he had used on this motor when he put the motor in a 82 chevy truck. will these also fit in with my car? i would really appreciate any advice from anyone. thanks

Welcome to TGO!To start a new thread go to the top right hand side of the listed threads and hit the red new thread button.THe topic you brought up has been covered on the engine swap board.Go to the stickies at the top of the listed threads and read the one about the 327(fact from fiction) and look around at engine swaps in general.
The 327 would work in your car IIRC(if I remember correctly). The tpi from your 87 should fit with some minor modifications. The bolt pattern for the intakes changed in 86.Not sure if the 305 heads would be better than the the old 327 heads. All that being said.....I,and most everyone else on here, will tell you to find a 350.Basicly the same parts for the same price will get you more power with the 350 compared to the 327.If it`s free and it is in good shape or rebuilt,I understand it may be hard to pass up.Pretty sure the truck headers will not fit in your third gen.
check out the Engine Swap,TPI board and read the stickies and search.Alot of info on here. And most we can think of has been covered once or twice.

complete waste of money on an otherwise stock engine, also it's more than a 305 needs, especially with an otherwise stock tpi behind and under it. The throttle body is not a restriction, the base manifold and the runners are.
