?
What makes you think any of those K members are going to have any effect on how your car handles???
Why would you want to spend $500+ on a k-member, when I don't see shocks or springs in your modifications yet?

Re: Lightest, strongest, best K-members
hahaha. I know. Your totally right, but i want to lighten the front of my car up as much as i can before going for springs. Plus I hate lowered Irocs. Its got new shocks so im not gonna go buy others right now. And i would get Koni yellows, which are a total of like 700 dollars.
aftermarket K-members are lighter and stiffer than stock. Lighter means closer to 50/50 and stiffer means... well.... stiffer. I figured it would be a good upgrade and worthwhile since im going to be swapping a 350 in. I'll do it all at the same time.

Re: Lightest, strongest, best K-members
you could relocate the battery to the trunk or back seat area ( if you don't need a back seat)........that would help in the 50/50 dept......

Aluminum heads, water pump, and a little metal out of the cylinders (350) would get you closer to 50/50 too.....

Re: Lightest, strongest, best K-members
I got mine weighed a couple years ago, and I'm at 52/48 distribution with T-tops off the car, the 2x12" subwoofer board in the back, no spare tire. That was also with A/C removed (but I have installed again), alum heads, intake.

Re: Lightest, strongest, best K-members
A K member would be the very last thing on my mind if I were making an IROC to handle. The stock unit is pretty light as it is, the majority of the weight saved by doing a K member comes from installing a steering rack, and you'll end up losing turning radius; exactly NOT what you're after here. If I were looking into doing up a Camaro for handling one of the first things I would be after would be a good cage, these cars are pretty flimsy and while sub frame connectors help a good cage will do alot more for them. Also whatever you do stay away from a coilover setup on these cars. Coilovers are nice for drag racing but they have no place in track racing, the cars just aren't built to handle it.

what did you do to get to 52/48. Thats really good. And i guess i won't bother with a K-member if they really aren't that heavy in the first place.

Re: Lightest, strongest, best K-members
if you are going for handling.... i wouldnt put a k member in a f body.
its more of a drag piece, IMO. save a few pounds and clears up a ton of room for various engines and headers.....

Re: Lightest, strongest, best K-members
A tubular K-member is a must when going for a LSX swap (Saves a lot of headache) But only weighs about 9 pounds less than stock. I do think it helped the handling on the car though, steering response seems quicker, more "Sure" if you know what I mean. If you are looking for weight savings, there are many much cheaper and easier mods...
