New Bilsteins, Eibach + more in car now
Last week end I installed Eibach springs Pro-kit "one to two in drop" 3801.140, Bilstein front struts and rear shocks P/N BSN-F4VE3C522H0 (Front) and BSN-F4B461121H0 (Rear) and Energy suspention rear polyurethane set 3.5147G it had rear sway bar bushings and rear sway bar link sets in it.
The eibach and Energy part # are off the box they came in and the Bilstein part # is from the summit site.
The springs they replaced were a set of sagging and worn out OEM springs they had not been cut or torched.
The rear shocks were "good" or functioning I guess, they were cheap-O $20 Monroe shocks and were stiff as all hell. They were the stiffest shocks I have ever seen.
The rear sway bar bushings were starting to crack and fall apart.
The front struts were very old. They were so old the name was worn off and the dust cover was crumbeling or they were just so cheap the maker didn't put their name on them. The struts were very dead.
My car is about 2'' higher now, before it was to low. That is what I was hopeing for. It was so low my little 2.5ton jack could not fit under the k-member. When you install these springs in the front you don't need a spring compressor because they are so much shorter then the stock springs they will pop right in with the help of steel bar.
The first thing I found when driving is that the car handles a lot better. For a few seconds there the first time I drive it I though I didn't need to replace the steering box. But I still have to. I thought that because the car is a little more responsive to steering wheel movement now for some reason.
My car can go over sewer covers and bumps now with out jaring the hole car. I don't drive around as many bumps now.
Its not like driving on a cloud but is very much improved. I'm not sure if I can say its like new.
Before even with a worn out suspention the car handled good. Now it feels like it sticks to the road even more.
The springs were $250 shipped. They were worth the money.
I scored the Bilstein set off ebay slightly used but like new for $320 shipped, they were worth it.
The Bilstein struts are $282/ea off summit that is very expensive. I would have to say for that price they are kind of not worth it.
The Bilstein shocks are $82 each for that price I say they are worth it and plan to buy a set of 4 shocks for my truck at about the same price.

Cool stuff. Glad everything went well for you. I run pretty much the same setup as you, Bilsteins & Eibach Pro, & I love it!

Dont buy your bilstein Struts form summit. I found them $50/ea cheaper over on yearone. And don't buy your shocks form yearone they are about $30/ea cheaper on summitracing.
Good thing I didn't get my bilsteins form any of those places.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the height from ground to edge of fender lip front and back measured center of the wheel? And what tires & wheel sizes are you running at those heights?

I am running the OE 16'' IROC wheels with 215/65/R16 tires. The top of the wheel well is 26'' off the ground.

I'm running the 245s, have run 275s, and I know a guy running the BFG 295s! 215 to 295....Must be the minimum and the maximum on the stock 16"x8's.

Is that # with the stock springs, or the Eibachs?? And considering those 215s are an inch taller than my 245s, that makes a difference too.

Re: New Bilsteins, Eibach + more in car now
Those tire have been on the car ever since I bought it back in 2002.
Even with 215 tires on there I can't even drive the car kind of rough and make the wheels break loose.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but Bilstien has a rear shock that is specifically for lowered cars or stock height...
I have Bilstien's all around, new ply bushings, after market LCAs, Panhard Bar, Spohn subframe connectors, etc...
I was going up and around a corner the other day & the car trakes amazingly well now... much better than the old worn out stock form...

I have seen the lowered bilsteins. At least in the back the rubber bumpers bottem out long before the shocks.

Re: New Bilsteins, Eibach + more in car now
Those 215/65/16 are the wrong tire for that car. That gives a diameter of 27", where the 254/50/16s are at 25.7". That would mean your ground to fender lip height would be 24.7" if you had the proper tires on there. That seems kinda low for a ProKit considering stock height at the front on an IROC is around 26-26.5".

Probably normal for non-IROC springs.
I have IROC springs, and it sits at just under 27 front, and just over 27 at the rear, with 1/4 tank of gas. I have alot of aluminum under the hood and no A/C.

Depending on how it was optioned, your car could be the right stock height. I should have measured mine before I put my springs on. Mine used to sit stupid tall...but my springs only had 50k on them (car only has around 60k on it now).
