AFR Eliminator Flow Bench
Has anybody actually flow benched these heads yet? Or is their QC considered "that good" that what they say is gospel?

For what it's worth, hot rod just did a build up with the 195 eliminators and they flowed 288/225.

It was 615 at 6900 with a monster cam and 383 cubes. I don't care what the price is, that is massive airflow out of a 195 cc port.

i dont think they are backed up anymore, when i order mine from jegs back in june 06' and hadnt recieved them by september, october, or november like they promised, i cancelled my order with them and got an order from www.adperformance.com and i recieved them like a month and a half later. and i also recieved the same heads from jegs the day after recieveing the other, i sent those back for a full refund cause they were supposed to be canceled. but i think they are only one month on backorder now since their move to a bigger warehouse, with i think 2-4 more machines to produce the heads more rapidly.

Believe it or not, I had my combustion chambers cc'd and they actually came out to the advertised 65cc.
Props to AFR
BTW - it took 3 days to get mine from ADP. They must've just gotten a shipment in.

I am installing mine on a 406 that needs to be assembled. The 8-10 weeks works out fine for me. I hope they are as good a product as advertised.

I just talked to Justin at AFR. He said a minimum of 2-3 months!!
I talked to a supplier (in Canada) and he said that he ordered a set of 195sbc's for a customer in early November and have not recieved them yet!!!
I think I will have to get another brand of heads, I live in Canada and I am not going to wait my whole summer....

Keep trying ADP. Mine came from them in a week.
According to people on this forum Trick Flow heads are comparable to the AFR's.

Justin is one of the best guys to talk to over there at AFR. He helped me last year when I was waiting for mine for 10 1/2 months. But that was this time last year.

How much you pay for the heads if you don't mine me asking?

Thank you guys.
Just as a heads up... We have over 30 sets of Eliminators here currently. All 4 configurations are ready to go.
210's are probably at least a month, they haven't gotten them finished yet.

Got my heads today. They look awesome!
I will try to get the heads flowbenched soon.
One point of interest, I called AFR and asked if I should smooth out the ports and chambers. Right now they are CNC'ed, so they are a little rough from the cnc bit. They said not to bother,
1: b/c if I get too close I might get through the water jacket
2:b/c the difference isn't worth the trouble,AFR said.
Here's some pics.

Just picked up a copy of Hot Rod (March '07) and they got independent flow numbers for the AFR Eliminator 195s in their 383/615hp build article.

I dont know if anyone else mentioned this, but not only is the flow decent on the afr's. but are they the only company to sell their heads with beehive valve springs and titanium retainers? i think that has alot to do with the head besides just the flow numbers.

first off polished surfaces get MUCH hotter than rougher surfaces......
also, if you do a little research into fluid dynamics you'll find that a slightly rough surface will actually show a faster port velocity than a finely smoothed surface........the rough surface will trap a very, very thin layer of air against it at a slower speed, and will create a "cushion" where the rest of the airflow can slipstream right over it, with fewer eddy currents and less turbulence.
thats the big thing with AFR heads too, is yes they flow amazing......but other companies beat their airflow several times, but failed to come near the power on the dyno the afr's made.......because its not the size of the port/rated cfm that tells the story, its the overall design of the port, which creates stellar port velocity, even with a very very large port......thats where AFR makes their money
