BMR 3 point Strut Tower Brace Fitment Issues

FYI,

When I had BMR's 3 point Strut Tower Brace installed on my car, the brackets they provided for the third point were not long enough to reach my firewall. My shop had to rig up an extender plate to reach it. I dont know how the heck it fits on other cars!

I have a 1991 GTA.

Bill,
Like I told you , after 20+ - years every car is going to be a little different. The strut tower brace is installed with refrence to the strut mounts. When the car is aligned the strut mounts are used to position the top of the strut, thus making just about every car have a slightly different positioning of those mounts. The plate that was made is only 1/2" longer then the one supplied by BMR.

Your car is fine and you have nothing to worry about.

Now go wash that poor car its filthy!! (kidding)

Thanks again,
Josh

Josh,

I wasn't suggesting that there was something wrong on my car. I was just warning other users that it may not be a 100& fit!

I didn't know BMR supplied a plate! I thought it just bolted to the firewall. Oy. Did you throw it in the box of old parts that I dragged home by chance?

Thanks for your hard work on my GTA. I'll be dragging it around for some more work soon, provided it doesn't snow!

How was your New Year's?

Bill

I used the bmr bracket to make a template for the extended piece on your car.. I think i still have it here though.. Yeah and you can warn people all you want the fact is that everything that is "Bolt in" hardly ever is..

Yes you have! I took pictures of it before I disassembled it spray it Black, you know to make sure it went back together the same way.

I haven't put it on it yet as the T/A is up in the air getting the rear and front suspension gone over and I sent the wheels away to be refinished. So I thought I'd wait till it was back on the ground.
