Flame Thrower Kits

I was thinking of buying on of these for the shows, i was wondering though would the flames effect the paint. and if anyone has used on of these before how do you get the shorter/smaller flames? i dont want to have a huge flame ball blow out my tailpipe.

made my own

i made my own on a shitty old car. what i noticed was that when driving if i lit it off the gas and oil sut went all over the back of the car because of the air flow. other thing i managed to do was melt my back bumper and tips on the tail pipe. im sure the kits are alot better than my set up. do you have a link for the kit, ill take a look. the holly **** effect from kids with civics is pretty high

any regular ignition coil will work. i prefer ones with HEI (spark plug like) terminals, so i can use some of the wires i already have...

personally, i like the modern propane kits the best.
i really dont like talking about them online though... its one of thoes things where, if you have to ask about it online, you shouldnt be doing it. lol.

non tech

Hmm. kit looks ok, as far as technical detail i dont want to throw alot out there. I used old fuel injectors and a spark plug. for the spark it doesnt matter when it sparks as long as theres fuel there. i used a toggle switch that shoot power to the plug and injector. everytime the toggle moved it sparked and made flame. it didn't work well but it was one of my first projects and i spent less than $20 on it. I'd go with a kit.

yeah but what about the paint, i just got my car painted this summer and i really dont want to mess it up. my exhaust is a 3.5 tips that stick before the back tires at an angle. its not directly pointed at the car or the tire, but will the heat effect the paint or tire???

For that last question, use common sence. There is no one that can tell you a 100% correct answer. But yeah, fire will hurt paint.
