CENTER FORCE = VALEO CHEAP GARBAGE

Several years ago I bought a $ 350 CENTER FORCE DUAL FRICTION
Clutch worked well for 4000 miles than it would not disengage properly
Hang up generally became useless. Pulled out!! It has sat under my workbench for years today I was working with a stock replacement clutch
And it looked very familiar. I pulled out my old centerfore clutch from under the work bench and guess what part numbers matched!!! Pulled the CENTERFORCE sticker removed the thick orange paint and guess what I found the word VALEO stamped in the same place as the stocker!!! Holy SH*^
I than took the weights from THE CENTER FORCE and they fit perfectly on the stocker!!! WTF

I guess it shouldn't be too surprising that they would use the same basic frame of a typical replacement pressure plate. The weighted arms on the diaphragn spring are what Centerforce built their name on. I'm sure the clutch disk friction materials are also different than stock. Other than that, if it's gotta fit like stock I can't say I'm surprised they would use typical aftermarket frames to start from.

That's not to say I'm a big fan of Centerforce clutches. I can't say I'm really blown away by their performance even when they are working right. It's just not really very surprising.

i put a dual friction on my L98. it seems to work perfectly..... for a stock clutch. in fact it is the nicest clutch i have ever had. however i was expecting it to be more grabby like my brothers racing clutch in his nissan. anyway.. that is kinda funny that they use valeo frames. you would think they would manufacture thier own.

What you guys dont know is that everyone uses Valeo pressure plates, as they own the patent on them. Its the disc that is propriatary to each manufacturer.
And yes, Centerforce's weight system is a joke. It ends up shifting to one side and causing problems with the clutch not releasing, as you saw.

Kevin your dead on. Valeo is the major mfg of the majority diaphragm Pressure plates for both the OE and Aftermarket. Secco is a another big name pressure plate company out of korea that supplies units to some of the big name aftermarkets. Bottom line, it's in the disc that sepperates the men from the boys.
