custom made sfc.....
i found a local speed shop that actually cuts a chunk out of each unibody end and cuts out part of the floorboard under the seats and slides a piece of steel into the end of each unibody and welds it. i saw another 70's camaro in there that he had done it to and it looked beautiful, nothing hanging down and very clean looking. what do you guys think about this? could there be an advantage over normal welded SFC's? depending on the car it would cost about 300.00$, but a set of spohn's is 195.00$ plus instulations would be another 100.00$ anyway.

Sounds expensive. And a lot of cutting to the chassis.
I had my cage and SFC's done at the same time, plus some additional stregthening for the ladder bars. They just used 1 3/4 tube steel for everything. The only thing that I had to have channeled to the frame was provisions for true dual exhaust placing the mufflers under each rear seat, and in the same area, provisions for the ladderbars.
If you are going the show car route, then by all means. Otherwise, I think it's a bit out of my budget.
How much anyways. I had mine fab'ed and installed for 200.

That would be **** if they could put 2x3 box tubing between the LCA mount and the rear framerail. Standard SFC connect only to the LCA mount.
$300 installed don't sound like a bad deal at all. Go for it!

I just welded a set of SSM subframe connectors onto my car and I love the fit and form. They tuck up behind the rocker panel seam so you don't see anything "hanging down" underneath the car. They don't get in the way of anything, and in fact, SSM even made provision for getting at the one body screw that the connector on the driver's side covers. I can post a pic if you like so you can see how clean and hidden they are. Plus I absolutely LOVE being able to jack up both the front and back wheels on one side with only one floorjack under the middle of the connector. Makes rotating tires ridiculously quick.
And the connectors cost about $150 (though I snagged mine from a car that didn't need them anymore and never got around to installing them). I couldn't tell you how much installation would be since I did mine myself.
