we talked about this about 2 weeks ago and I stated the auburn was not rebiuldable but I was wrong (sort of ) the auburn has cones that make contact with the case and springs hold them against the case when you go around a corner the cones slip when they wear out or score the case bad enough the unit is junk but auburn has a replacement policy for about $100 except you have to return the unit to them and they send you a new one which means setting up the rear again if the springs or other parts wear out ypu can replace them . The eaton unit is a clutch type with about 12 or 14 clutches(dont know the exact #) two retainer plates and springs with spider gears if any of that wears out you just replace them they dont affect the case if you blow it to pieces you have to replace the entire thing but that goes for all diffs.I worked at and owned a speed shop for almost 20 years and have sold a lot of both and the auburns seem to always break or wear out pretty quick.Ive had eaton units in 10 second street cars and had no problems never broke one but I have had to replace clutches mostly due to the use of slicks at the track. My opinion dont waste your money on the auburn!

im useing the powertrax no-slip traction system by richmond, and i have to say i love it. $425.99 but i think its worth it now, since i have actually used it, and i have beatin the crap out of it, readjusted the rear end, and it still looked new. i dont know if its rebuildable though.
