Consumer Beware: Edelbrock Ti-Tech Coating

here are my edelbrock ti-tech coated headers i put on last summer (it hasnt even been a year)...the coating is never supposed to rust. well that was bs. The y-pipe is rusted the worst, all the rust appears to be surface rust but it will get worse. This is Indiana weather...never driven in the snow, but driven in the rain, and parked outside 80% of the year

Me too, especially after reading about someones' (sorry, forgot who) adjustable torque arm. Also, I really don't like that they seem to have a not-so-wide selection...everything is 'performer', 'performer rpm', or 'torquer', it seems.

I think anything edelbrock is associated with rusty parts. My friend bought a bunch of edelbrock suff from summitracing. His camshaft came rusted and his headers rusted through within a year.

my TES headers and collecter pipe is doing the same thing, when I replace the header gaskets I am going to completly remove the headers, collector pipe and sandblast everything and then either get them coated or paint them an aluminum color with some Hi-Temp Header Paint...... What do you guys think?

I think generally Edelbrock has a good reputation, but the Ti-tech coating is a new thing--as with many new products, only time will tell if they work as intended. Everyone on here seems pretty happy with Jet Hot coated Hooker headers, and some other ones.

Personally I don't like the way the Edel's are bent at the collectors, should just merge instead of crimping. If it were me, I'd do what you said, take them off, paint them, and sell 'em on Ebay, then get some Hooker 2055's. Or keep the ones you have if you don't want to spend more $ on exhaust. I'm sure they still flow much better than the stock setup. Still, if they are rusting like that, unless they are properly coated they won't last.

i had the same problem. not to the same degree though. i have my car out in PA for a year for school and i did see some of that on the headers, but my y pipe is completely rusted. i had the stuff on there all about 7 mounths..... some of their stuff is alright not too thrill with it honestly. it looks the headers are extreamly restrictive at the collector as well...

Mine are doing the same thing. I guess you get what you pay for! Tryed to save some money - I guess it is time to break down and buy SLP Headers.

Why?

So when you re-did your headers they didnt turn out well? Why was that? I would plan on taking them to the shop that my dad runs... they have huge high pressure commercial sandblasting cabinents. IDK about the paint though if it would hold up... I wouldnt be using cheap junk... Let me know how your experience was.
