Jasper motors?

I did a search, but couldn't find anything.

What's the deal with Jasper motors? I hear about a lot of cars (3rd gens included) with these.

Are they any good? Cheap honed out blocks? Are they parts store specials?

Jasper is an engine/transmission builder based in Indiana. I have actually toured there factory. You could eat off the floor. The have a pretty good reputation....they do stock engines and well as high performance.

I have had personal experience with Jasper engines. I have been installing them for over 6 years now. They are a lot better quality than they were 15 years ago, they were junk for a long time and had a bad reputation. They are who I use at work, actually I ordered a transmission from them last week which will be here tomorrow for one of my ambulances.
They come with a 75,000 mile warranty. I would recomend them.

My thoughts are mixed about them. Ive personally installed about 40 or so. Ive never had any issues with thier gasoline engines although I know a few places that have. My machinest ripped apart a fNord stroker engine they built, it was ugly and they dident stand behind it. They dident stand behind a 7.3L diesel I installed either, they even lied and when they claimed to be sending the engine back it wasent even the same one.
The shop down the street had 3, 350's in a row with problems. The Official claim was they just aquired a former Recon facility and all 3, 350's came from there. We dont offer Jasper engines anymore because of the crap they pulled with the 7.3L. If I had to order an engine I would take Jasper over Recon.
